Lite-on Recover if it locked up after erase video

Post by maximus6284 »

Dear CoFree (or anyone else who can help),

Please help, I am a new member who has watched your guides over & over & felt I had absorbed
your wisdom for doing this process.

But when I actually atempted to try this, everything happened as the above video stated.

The 'erase' process locked up in 'JungleFlasher'.

But then I attemped the 'dosflash' process (and I'm doing everything exactly as your guide states)
and cant get the 'erase' phase to engage/complete. The computer just sits there dormant.

However, everything else seems fine. The computer boots from the USB drive; the 'FF80' & 'FF72'
commands appear; the computer recognises the 'lite-on' drive in DOS; I'm using the right port
number; everything checks out but it just wont 'erase' after I tell it to.

Please help, many thanks in advance

if you are seeing the ff80 and ff72 then you jave erased the drive.
after you power the dvd drive off and run dosfhash what is going on with the pc.

firstly, apologies for the PM & double posting!

After I run the dosflash, it comes up with the relative info just like your tutorial. Only difference is, I have to press 'N' on the first menu because the drive isn't listed. On the second list it's listed as 'drive 7' then when I go to press 'E' for the erase, it accepts the command but doesn't state that the erase phase is complete (it states its doing it).

So I don't get back to the command prompt to continue with the process and I'm just waiting (more than 10 minutes before I referred back to your tutorial. when you do that, it erases instantly).

I'm pretty sure I've covered all the basics like; USB drive under 2Gb, right port number, copy the right software onto the USB to begin with and I've even written down when and at what point to power the drive on & off, but nothing!

Also, if I try the lite-on drive in the console, I get one red light & E64 error. (console is an elite but I dont think that really matters according to my research).

hope you can help.

many thanks in advance.

I don't know if it would make a difference in your case, but I always use LITEON E instead of just E. That may not make a bit of difference though as I've not tried just using the E command.

Could you find out what the secondary code is for the console. You can do this by holding the sync button and then pushing eject on the tray, do this 4 times each time it will be a new number eg. All lights on = 0, 1 light on = 1 2 lights on =2 etc etc.
If you have error 0021 then im afraid that the drive is done.

man
it looks like you are doing it right

all i did was just the video
i hit "e" that is it.

you may want to try going strait to the write
and
no doing the "e"
and see what it does.
i dont see where it can hurt anything at this point.

The E64 error code means that there is no dvd drive or one has not been recognized it sounds as though you may have already erased your drive you should still be ok as long as you have got your key. This happened to me also but i lost the key and didn't have a chance to try and flash it. Although I have used the same method viewtopic.php?f=195&t=3226" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; with success, with other drives. Do you have your cfw file and if so have you just gone ahead and tried the flash.

I'm following your advice and trying to go straight to the 'write phase' from DOS, CoFree.

But now its beginning to test my patient. After the second 'l-o-eras.exe PORT No.' I.m not getting the confirmation from the command prompt and it doesn't give me the 'FF72'.

All I keep getting is the 'FF80' and I've tried typing 'l-o-eras.exe PORT No.' four times now and all I get is 'FF80'.

Whats wrong with it now???

To Hackedit,

Couldn't find the secondary code for console, it just doesn't do anything.

I think I'll give it untill tomorrow and then I'll throw the console out of the window and claim on the insurance.

Anyone got any better excuses to give to the insurance company.

Something original maybe, like; my dogs potty training and keeps mistaking the xbox for a bucket; or my girlfriend got sick of me playing too many games and she then had a temper tantrum and destroyed it with her stilletoes....

Help me with a good excuse!!!
