I have a lite-on drive with ixtreme 1.5 flashed on it.
I am installing a blaster 360 NE when it comes in the mail.
I have a VIA6421A 3x Sata 1x IDE Raid PCI Controller Card.
I have an xps m1530 laptop with express card slot and usb 2.0 slots.
Can I flash with 1.51 and eventually 1.6 when it comes out?
If so, what other hardware do I need? software??
Possible to flash blaster 360NE with laptop??
Re: Possible to flash blaster 360NE with laptop??
guy's have been trying and i haven't heard of anyone being successful with flashing using a laptop. probably be in your best interest to use a desktop.
Re: Possible to flash blaster 360NE with laptop??
I do have a super old desktop in the basement. I think it is a pentium 2 running windows 98. Will that work??
Re: Possible to flash blaster 360NE with laptop??
I still need this connectivity kit even though I have the blaster 360NE?
I think I can use my friends desktop. Will I have to open it up? Do you know of any really good tutorials/videos to help?

Re: Possible to flash blaster 360NE with laptop??
it's ll good, that's what the site is for. . .
i never knew what the blaster 360ne was until just now, i looked it up and it seems like it flashes all the drives except the one you have, the lite-on.
the connectivity kit is for those of us who don't have a blaster 360ne, it helps you connect the 360 dvd drive to the computer and power the drive as well. the lite-on drive has some points inside of it that needs to be bridged in order for you to flash it. that can be done by solder or what many have been using a probe.
so yea, im not sure if the blaster 360ne does that for the lite-on drives, it never said that when i read up on it. . .

Re: Possible to flash blaster 360NE with laptop??
I read something about UNIATA drivers over on XBS...
VIA drivers don't seem to send the Intro to the drive, but I'm sure I read someone having success by deleting the VIA drivers and installing these mystical UNIATA drivers (google them, they're easy to find).
If you have a PCI sata card, you won't be able to use it on the laptop anyway. I would dig that old desktop out, and install it in there. Personally I would get rid of the Blaster as well, dump/upgrade to 1.51 then do some experimenting with the Blaster to see if you can get it to work as normal. I think you may run into some problems with the Blaster and the Lite On...
