issues with 8.8, possible to use 6.2
issues with 8.8, possible to use 6.2
originally i flash benq with iprep 6.2 have no issues.
attempting to use 8.8 after dBen serial number screen i get to "press any key" screen nothing happens after pressing a key
what could be causing issues? is it possible to continue using iprep 6.2 and update with ixtreme 1.51 files
I don't have a ck3 kit, i'm doing it the "old school" way. With the xbox sitting on the side of the computer case

Re: issues with 8.8, possible to use 6.2
you have to have one in some form
store bought or home made.

Re: issues with 8.8, possible to use 6.2
so can i use a windows 32 version of flashing, and skipping the iprep method without having a ck3 unit?
Re: issues with 8.8, possible to use 6.2
you most have a ck3 of some kind
it dont matter what program or app you use

Re: issues with 8.8, possible to use 6.2
To get the benq in Venndor mode with 1.4 on it, you need to run "magic" unlock, which requires the drive to be half open/closed. This is possible without a CK3, but is dangerous as you are literally pulling the power to the drive as it's closing (on the 360 motherboard).
As cofree says, the major difference between 8.8 and 6.2 is the exclusive use of Dosflash on 8.8 (rather than MTKFlash on 6.2). It might be worth trying with 6.2, but I'm not sure it contains the benq unlock command, which I'm pretty sure you'll need.

Re: issues with 8.8, possible to use 6.2
so, it's not a computer issue
not a dos/computer issue
not a via card issue that i just purchased
not a usb drive issue
but primarily it's an issue with the fact that i don't have ck3 kit?

Re: issues with 8.8, possible to use 6.2
the 2 second trick (VCC) is simply to turn the drive off and back on after you have sent whatever command you are trying to the drive...

cool, i'll check it out, thanks for the help guys.
I did have one last question not part of this thread.
I made a thread earlier in regards to i didn't save my key the first time, and i've been helped already by the members here and figured out how to get the key.
My question is, if i didn't save the original firmware, but now i am able to write/save the key for the drive, do i still have anything to worry about if I ever had to replace the drive?
I figured that the main thing/issue was to make sure to save the key for the drive, and it wasn't a issue about the firmware...am i correct?
If i'm wrong, and the original firmware is a important thing that needed to be saved, how could i do it?
2nd, does xbins have the original firmware for the drives?
Thanks for the patience and help!
Re: issues with 8.8, possible to use 6.2
if its a lite-on then yes there are other files you need.Kanobi wrote:if i didn't save the original firmware, but now i am able to write/save the key for the drive, do i still have anything to worry about if I ever had to replace the drive?
but
if it not a lite-on than
having just the key should be fine.

Re: issues with 8.8, possible to use 6.2
