Computer Backup BEGINNER Drive Question

im about to buy one of them samsungs for backing up games and i ran through the question Ide or Sata

1)How would i set up the IDE


2) If i get the sata, can i plug it in with my Via chip and let it work?


i need these answers fast cuz i bid on one and am not sure to bid more when i should get one due to advantages
