Hey, I am trying to flash a Lite-on drive for the first time and I'm not quite sure exactly what to do. I have flashed samsung and BenQ before but this is a whole new bag of tricks apparently. I have a VIA SATA card that I have not had any problems with and after reading some of the posts around here and watching CoFree's videos it seems I need a connectivity kit. I usually just used the 360 as my power supply and it's worked swimmingly so far.
The drive is a legit firmware right now so I gather I can use Iprep 8.8, what I am wondering is with the whole soldering bit and the "spear" or "probe" you need to do. I don't really feel comfortable soldering right now until I practice and this is not a drive that I can mess around with. It seems a "probe" would work fine but I don't know what it is so an explanation would be extremely welcomed.
Oh, by the way, CoFree is the man!.Your videos are awesome! Thanks so much!
EDIT: I guess I need a com port as well and I am wondering if DB 9 ports are the com 1 needed because the RS232 cables use it so I kinda am deducing that is the product I need but would be awesome if confirmed. My computer also says there is a Com 1 installed and says it's on the PCI bus but I don't think it is the same thing because there is no connector for a RS232 on my computer anywhere, so would I have to disable that or would a pci DB 9 automatically become Com 1?

ok man
you are going to need to use jungle flasher v1.51 (not iprep)
iprep is having a hard time with the v1.51 hack firmware
you will need a probe and ck3 of some kind a pro or a lite
http://www.modchip.ca/store/product.php ... 284&page=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
you will need a com1 9 pin rs232 on your computer
if you get the lite ck3 it will come with a rs232 cable with it.
if you are running a via chip set for the lite-on you will need to do this

Re: Need some help with a Lite-on flashing
1: Its a serial cable which goes from the comport on your pc to the r232 connection on your ck3 pro (required if you're planning on using iprep)
2: No the ck3 gets its power from a molex connector (you can either use one of your pc's or attach it to a seperate atx supply)
3: Please read above'
4: Same again.

That is not a VGA connection. That is the serial or DB9 9 pin connection.

Radio Shack carries the RS232 cables, though they're kind of expensive. I know Best Buy used to but I haven't seen any there in a while, you're best chance is a local computer/electronics/hobby shop.
