Lite on drive flashing

Post by yginesta »

I have the Maximus 360 Xtractor PRO w/Spear and I am not sure if the tutorial for the Xecutor CK3 kit would work the same. I also have a motherboard that does not have a Serial port on it, but I am going to buy out today. I have a VIA6410 card and I dont know if I would need to connect the Xtractor VIA USB and Serial or one or the other. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I thought the xtractor had USB support?? It does. You don't need a serial port. Just install the usb drivers for the xtractor of the website here: http://maximusgames.net/360xtractor.php?opt=4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Make sure you have portio32 installed, also available there. SInce your using a VIA card, go into your device manager and disable the card, don't uninstall it, just disable it. Then go into C:\windows\system32\drivers and find VIAMRAID.sys and rename it to VIAMRAID.bak and then re-enable the card in device manager. It should have a yellow exclamation mark when you re-enable it. Reboot your computer. Check to make sure it still has the yellow exclamation mark. Then just use jungleflasher and your xtractor with spear to do the job. It will work the same as the CK3 at this point.

Yeah I have the USB on the chip, but was unsure if I needed the Serial or not. Also if I make the Changes to the VIA card to the .bak file When I am done I will need to change it back? I just bought an Asus M3N-HT Deluxe board with the Marvell 6111 SATA controller, would this work as well. Also which way is it safer to go Iprep or Jungleflasher?

I should have mentioned that if your primary hard drive runs of the VIA card, you shouldn't disable the card that way. But if there is nothing else connected to the card, you can leave it disabled, but if you need to use a device with the card other than for flashing purposes, you would need to disable the card and re-name the file back from VIAMRAID.BAK to VIAMRAID.SYS and then re-enable it. A quick reboot and you'll be able to use the card normally.

As for the new board with the Marvel chipset, I don't know. I've never used anything besides a VIA for flashing. If your planning on using iprep, I would build and create the custom firmware with jungleflasher and then use iprep to flash it. From what I understand, there is a problem with iprep when it comes to flashing the lite-ons, I'm not well versed with what the actual problem is though.

Ok Ill give jungle flasher a try. I dont have anything else that I use the VIA card for other than for flashing. So if this is the case then I can disable the card and change the .sys file to .bak and then re enable it. The flash it like normal?

ok.... Last night i went through the tut and I was able to read my drive and check the key. when I got to the point where it erases the firmware it wouldnt go out of 80 status. I noticed that the drive was pretty much dead. No eject or anything. My comp was reading my sata card but it was not seeing the lite one drive. I am trying to erase the drive in DOS but I am not familiar on how to do this. My computer also keeps freezing when I try to run the erase option. Please let me know what I can do. Thanks in advance.

Yeah I saw that this morning after my post. Do you know if Cofree made a PDF file to go with this?

Yeah bro thanks. I have been so frustrated because with my old Asus motherboard I would have done this already because all the drivers were loaded and also I had the VIA card plus the Jmtron Sata on board. I was pretty comfortable with that board and it died and I got the new Asus M3N-HT deluxe and the on board Sata chipset wont work and the only other way is the Via card. I am doing the flash for a buddy of mine and I need to give him the xbox back to him. I really appreciate all of you guys help on this site.

I was able to follow Cofree's video although when I got to DOS my option were a bit different. Like I said before I havent had much play with the lite-On drives. I will buy one and experience on spoofing keys with my Sammy and HIT drives and see what can be done.

Thanks for everyones help.
