Had the 79 return today to be updated. Wow. What a pain in the rear. Worked on it for an hour and a half. Couldn't get JF to put it into mode B. Tried slax multiple times but apparently you don't need to use it anymore. Eventually got JF to see the drive and dumped the firmware and did a restore. Created the firmware but it wouldn't flash it for the life of me. Kept saying the sectors didn't match although I double checked that they did. I was using the 5.80c drivers and even uninstalled them and PortIO. Installed 5.30 drivers and couldn't get it to detect the drive. Basically the drive is now stock and doesn't even have 1.41 on it. Wanted to work on it some more but the guy is just going to get a different 360. Drive drove me crazy.
How do you guys flash a 79? PortIO + JF? I'm sure I would have eventually got it. I got it into mode B did the 79 unlock, dumped, restored, no flash. I think my level of frustration shows through the length of this post.

Re: 79FL Blues
Hi ya
Have you thought of just changing the drive for a sammy or something easier. I normally Like to have a drive to the side and flash that so that if anything goes wrong i never end up with a brick.
Prob not helpful but is easier than paying for new 360 as you already have the key.

Not mine. Hopefully I will be able to look at the drive again tomorrow. It's so rare that I see a Hitachi drive and it's buggin' memrc wrote:Hi ya

I am confident though now after I've seen sadalius' 78 video
