CK3 Freezing, please can anybody help me (cofree?)

Hi guys I'm new to flashing liteon's but I've done a couple benq's and samy's with my VIA6421 card and have had no issues what so ever.

I got the CK3 to do the liteon as my soldering abilities are non existent and hoped going through windows would be safer and easier to do but I've run into issues.

I must first tell you that I've formatted my machine and installed a fresh version of XP pro with XP SP3, dotnet 3.5 and the USB drivers as well as the portIO32 drivers on my machine so its got all it needs to do this.

Now for the problem: every time I switch the CK3 on to start reading the key my pc freezes, I've tried to get the drive ready for key dumping, by pausing it in my bios and then going into windows, but that leads to the same result.

I'm totally out of ideas as to what to do to solve this so if anyone can help with advice I'd be most appreciative

are you use a probe

are you useinf a via chipset
is this the first time this drive has been flash

man i just need more info
there are just to many way to go without know just what is going on at your end.

i've got the ck3 and the probe and i've got a via6421 chipset

basically when everything is on and i'm preparing to read the key i get issues

i open the tray, switch off, push the tray half way back and then turn on, after about 5 to 10 seconds my pc freezes so i dont even get a chance to read the key through jungle flasher

i don't know what could be the prob cause as i already stated my system is brand new and i've installed all the drivers necessary for the ck3

any ideas?

It's not the CK3 thats freezing the system, it's the VIA card. If you use iprep you won't have this issue. But you will have to use a serial port and serial cable to do it that way.

ok i'm sorry for a stupid question but i'm not so technically minded, what is a serial port and serial cable, was the cable included in the ck3 pro package?

if not is it possible to do the flash with just what i received from Xecuter?

is there a tutorial somewhere on how to do it that way?

Where did you get your CK3 pro kit from? That could determine whether or not the serial cable was included.

The serial cable is not normally included in the pro CK3's, you will have probably received a usb cable instead.

This is what a serial port looks like. It would be located on the back of your computer if you have any.



This is what the cable looks like. It's a DB9 serial cable with a male connector on one end and a female on the other end. The CK3 pro usually doesn't come with one, but it does depend on where you bought it because some resellers will bundle them up.

my CK3 didn't come with the serial cable but i'm gonna get one asap, is there any noob friendly tutorial for flashing with the serial?

It may solve your lockup problems in windows with jungleflasher. It may not, but it worked for me. If you try it, please post and let us know whether it worked or not for you.

ok i think changing the via driver to .bak helped cause i managed to get the key.bin inquiry.bin identify.bin and dummy.bin

also managed to erase the drive but pc froze again during the flash, didn't even get to bank 0 before it froze

question i have now is my drive bricked or is there some way to flash the drive?

Use the DOSFlash method. There is a video tutorial on recovering a lite-on after the erase in teh video tutorials section. Follow that and you'll be in business.

ok cool i'm gonna give it a try after work today and i'll report back as soon as i get a result

didn't mention it above but the drive doesn't switch on at all so i dunno if this method can still help

hi guys

finally got it to work, kept freezing even in dos but found that unplugging the VIA and ck3 during the procedure altogether during the procedure worked
