MS28 drive and 0800

Post by dannyg1985 »

Hey guys im in need of your assistance again :D

Just received my MS28 drive today and flashed it using my CK3 with 0800 firmware. This drive is going to be used purely for dumping games..

After the flash i rebooted back up to windows. Now windows has no problems finding the drive - however XBC cannot actually select it. For some reason when its connected it creates two drives (below is the log from XBC)

Xbox Backup Creator v2.8 Build:0275 By Redline99

Now K is obviously the MS28 - When i insert a game disc it loads the disc and reads at 5.31mb - pretty normal i presume since you then need to unlock it to get the full game..

However since i cant acutally select the drive from XBC it wont allow me to dump it.. so where am i going wrong :D

Oh, and i can select the J drive if that helps :)

Cheers,
Dan

Ok well i think i have found at what the problem is.

I first noticed this when flashing but didnt realise it would be a problem - looks like i was wrong.

I purchased the drive of ebay, and the firmware has been spoofed as a liteon drive (DG16D25-74850C). Also to top it off its an MS25 drive and not a 28 which it was listed as (not that this causes a problem for ripping so not fased).

So the question now is, is it still possible to flash the drive with 0800 without the original firmware?

Thanks,
Dan

***EDIT**

All sorted, i spoofed the firmware back to MS25 Firmware and re-flashed. Its now working and can be found in XBC. I just need to downgrade the drivers though for my VIA as discs are reading at 4TB. Something to do tomorrow.

I also get 4TB in the drive size

I have downloaded 5.2 via drivers from here http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?Pa ... =117&Old=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This sorted the 4TB size problem

The 5.30C you can find here just click the first link.

5.30C I was told are the ones to use, theyre better then the 5.2 (apperently)

They worked perfectly on my hit 78 and ms28 (although i fried the 28 with while putting the power cable back in)

Good luck ;)

This is just some information, the ms-25 is really an ms-28, just with different firmware and the 28's a little younger than the 25's. The hardware is exactly the same.

Yes, go to options, look under drive specifications and change xbox 360 to xbox, then it will backup originals.

well
you would just put it in and try
but
the console could log that and report the next time it gets on live.

in that case it could do it withXbox360 games as well right?

how do we find out I dont have any xbox1 games to test, I see in the readme's of other older versions they make mention of the xbox 1 compatibility

Hopefully some1 reads this that has tried this on the latest firmware and could shed some light on this matter. would be good to know
