Hi! i just had few pre-flashing questions before diving into all this.
In the video it said to make sure you have the correct raid controller selected. How do i know which one is correct? Also, what do i put on my flash drive to boot from and where can I get it? I also wonder where I can find the benq firmware? Finally, the setup for connections the computer should look like this: (right?) computer connected to dvd drive, which is connected to connectivity kit. The rest of the xbox is completely isolated from the setup? Thanks ahead of time and sorry for being such a skeptical n00b!

Re: Benq pre-flash questions!
You dont really need to set your raid controller... in iPrep, it will list all the drives on your comp, and you can either disconnect your drive in your computer so you do not get confused, or if your confident enough with names you can just locate your xbox drive in the list. Its easy...BelgianRofl wrote: In the video it said to make sure you have the correct raid controller selected. How do i know which one is correct?
Download the auto xbins here Everything you need is on xbins... You will need iPrep (or jungle flasher, personally I prefer jungle...) You can also get your BenQ firmware from there...BelgianRofl wrote: Also, what do i put on my flash drive to boot from and where can I get it? I also wonder where I can find the benq firmware?
As for your flash drive, Download iPrep, and load the firmware, you only need to load 1 firmware, not all them...
So when you open iPrep, you only need to load the firmware for your drive, you can leave the other 2 boxes empty... Then use iPrep to format and make your flash drive bootable. That will copy all the files over...
If you have a connectivity kit, you can simply power the kit with a molex connector in your computer, then plug the CK3 into your drive. Then you can plug your sata into your drive, and your controller card. The rest of your xbox can be wherever you like...BelgianRofl wrote: Finally, the setup for connections the computer should look like this: (right?) computer connected to dvd drive, which is connected to connectivity kit. If your using your xbox as a power source the case must be grounded to your PC. So you can either connect with wires, or just have the cases touching. You would then need to connect the drive to your controller card with your sata...

your correct the only thing your connecting is the drive to computer and the rest of the xbox is waiting in anticipation on another table. Hope this helps.

Re: Benq pre-flash questions!
Thanks for your help so far! I just hope to get a little more help from what couldnt be found in the 360 guidebook.
When i try to load the benq firmware into iprep it tells me "No valid firmware loaded", I looked at other posts and couldnt find one like it, any ideas?
The other question is my Sata (SCSI based) controllers are either "AQMKQQDA IDE controller" (or something like that) and Microsoft iSCSI Initiator. With the IDE based I get Sandard Dual channel PCI IDE Controlller and Intel(R) ICH9 4 port Serial ATA Storage Controller 1 - 2920. I dont know if that makes sense to anyone else, but if it does, which one (if any) should i use for a benq.
sorry for all the noob questions again, help is really appreciated, I just dont want to screw this up.

Re: Benq pre-flash questions!
You will need the .ixdef file updating: available here viewtopic.php?f=112&t=48" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (just overwrite the one in the resources folder of iprep.) As far as your sata ports are concerned for the least problematic way i'd recommend getting the Via 6421 card but if you want to try with your onboards i think it would be the ICH9 on the first primary port. (might be a bit of trial and error if they're not marked up)
Also disconnect anything attached to your motherboard especially anything which runs through the sata ports (apart from your 360 drive obviously

Re: Benq pre-flash questions!
if you are using iprep
you have to have all other sata drives unhooked
firmtool will not run and build your hacked firmware if it indexes more then one sata drive.

Re: Benq pre-flash questions!
Ah, I was updating with the one from x-bins, but the one from that link worked better =D. So im going to build my flash drive with the ICH9 as suggested; after I build it, which part is trial and error? If it doesnt work, do I plug the drive into another sata port, or rebuild flash drive with a different one? Also, is it ok if no COM ports show up, I have no options in that dropdown?
Re: Benq pre-flash questions!
with the benq
i dont think you will get your onbo sata to work
most can't
this card works well for the benq and samsund drives
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
if you look at your mobo
the sata ports will have a small number at them
iprep will only work on 1
if it will work with your onbo at all.
