Got a few BenQ drive flashing questions
First, im about to goto Frys Electronics, and Id like to know what SATA card i should purchase, im guessing the VIA-VT6421a, but this will be my first time flashing, so i wanted to get an experts opinion. Also, i watched Cofree's video, but im a little stumbled about the serial number part. I know im supposed to use my serial number from my drive, but i dont see a 12 digit number anywheres on my drive. Im guessing my serial is the one rightabove the bar code, but its 14 digits and im not sure. Cofree's example was 1234567-12345. Sorry bout the noob question, but i dont want to ruin any of my hardware or spend money on the wrong sata controller. Thanx all

i dont think that you will find the card you need in a store.this one works good

well the numbers dont matter but using your ser number is the best way to keep up with it latter.
if your has 14 number then i would use them.
ive not seen one with 14 numbers.
guys have any of you seen a 360 with a 14 number ser number.

I haven't actually counted mine.... I just know that the serial number is on the label above the LAN or internet port. You can also get it from the dashboard by going into the system blade and looking at the system information (I think thats what it's called) from inside the console settings area.

Re: Got a few BenQ drive flashing questions
Alright, guys, just got back from the store. this is what i got.....The SATA card is by a company called PPA Int'l, its a 2 Port SATA, 1.5GB/s PCI card. 1 external, 1 internal port. I looked at the card before i bought it and it does have the VIA VT6421A chipset. I also bought a pck of TDK DVD+R DL. Am i good with this stuff?
By the way, thanx for all the positive advice, i was afraid i would have got some negative comments and Noob remarks

Re: Got a few BenQ drive flashing questions
Ok wait, ive been looking on the DVD drive itself for the serial number, after i read the comment about on top of the network port, it clicked that maybe you meant theserial on the XBOX itself. That one is 12 numbers, is that the one im supposed to use? Or the one on the drive?
Re: Got a few BenQ drive flashing questions
yup, use the one thats on the xbox itself. Thats your xbox 360's serial number that it's asking for. Sorry for not being clear on that.... But thats the one.

Re: Got a few BenQ drive flashing questions
Ok, i need a bit of help. I have the SATA card installed and all, ive alreadt went through iprep on my floppy. Im booted on to the floppy, and ive gotten to the part where i enter the serial number, i made sure the drive was turned off. It skips the option for me to hit "Y" to resend MTK, and i get error:" MTK Vendor Intro failed on port 0x1cd0. If you choose to resend the command you should turn the drive off and on after you pressed "Yes" Do you want to resend the command until the drive responds? (Y/N)?"
What am i doing wrong?

Re: Got a few BenQ drive flashing questions
Cofree, ok, i paid closer attention t ur video, the errors i previoulsy posted were not errors at all, the same is on your screen. the only difference i see is that before the drive is powered on, it shows Status: 0x7F on yours, mines shows Status: 0xFF , and when i turn the 360 on it doesnt do anything, the drive is powered because i hit eject and the tray came out. What do u think? Should i unplug my SATA hard drive or disable something? I have an Intel D945GCL MoBo if that means anything.
Re: Got a few BenQ drive flashing questions
well
dont start the power up with the eject.hit the power button.
i would say its not seeing your 360 drive.very few mobo will work and most of them are a pain.
i know some do work people.
i would get this card it works well

Re: Got a few BenQ drive flashing questions
cofree, some one else told me to use Xtreme Boot Maker, because iprep is not seeing my sata card, and XBM allows you to input your Device ID and I/O Port, but im having trouble figuring out my Device ID and which port im supposed to use, i have the sata cable hooked to the inside port. Can u help me out? I tried through msinfo but the device id is some long line of numbers and letters, its confusing.

Re: Got a few BenQ drive flashing questions
Cofree, ok some one helped me figure out how to read my device id, i think iprep may be reading it wrong. My original id that i got from msinfo is 1106-3249 and my 1st and 3rd I/O are 1CD0-1CB0. Noe from what they told me its supposed to be some what backwards, like this 0611-4932 and D01C-B01C, but iprep is reading them just like msinfo. What do u think? and if so, how do i change it in iprep?
Re: Got a few BenQ drive flashing questions
iprep is picking up the port that is compatible.
open iprep in the sata info part make sure your sata via raid controller is in the line.then hit the "?" it will show your port Id and IO.that is is going to use.
man dont make this harder than it is.
do it just like in the video start from the beginning.then try one of the ports.if that dont work try the other port
most of the time the port inside the computer and closest to the front of the computer is the good port.
if it wont work.then something is wrong.sata cable, sata card, change the slot the pci card is in.try a different computer.

Re: Got a few BenQ drive flashing questions
Im not making it hard, Im pretty sure its because im using Windows Vista and for some reason it is giving the drive the wrong port.
