mornin all :) got another liteon and a question!

Post by flamethrower »

i hope this one is gonna go better than my last one which ended in complete failure!

has anything changed with the release of the new JF and firmwares?

Do i still need to solder / connect the R707 point, am i right that i do not need to do the R708 point?

i have ck3+probe+via card, so i think i am equipped to proceed!!

many thanks all once more

Good morning,
If you have the probe no soldering is needed

You must probe the 707.

If you choose to solder do so only on the 707.

Hope this helps, need more holla back.

hmm... i thought that the probe was to extract the key.. and the solder was done to allow the new patched FW to be written?

so i do not need to solder? what if i have already soldered? does it matter? as my friend has probably done it by now!

you can either probe OR solder...don't matter which you do, Cofree I think prefers the solder method...me with old and bad eyes...I use the probe method.

Either way job gets done, just make sure when soldering ONLY the 707 points get soldered.

the probe and the solder do the same job just in a different way.
it get the key and other files out of the drive.

the flash in goes in the sata cable.

if you are using iprep to update a flash dvd drive
the 707 CAN NOT be soldered you have to use the probe.

you dont have to do anything with the 708.

ok i have a bad feeling...

just tried it with iprep... dvd key was found no problem, but as i am booting off a floppy it ran out of space saving the files

so i tried JF 1.55

got the Fw files, checked in firmware toolbox.. all fine

went to erase and it said 0x72
then tried to write, it seemed to do something

now its not working, JF will not recognise the drive and now i cant even open the tray using my ck3?

HELP!! have a bricked it?

found a few threads with other people with the same issue, i am panicking slightly less now!

i understand that if i have the lite_cfw.bin file i can just create a bootdisk, and using dosflash and L-O-Eras.exe reset the drive and then flash?

hope so!

this is what i am following....
So your pc froze? You were erasing your liteon and then when you did the power cycle, your PC froze? Well you are in luck. As long as your key, inquiry, and identify.bin files were correct, then you can save your drive. What will happen at this point is your drive will no longer eject, so you think oh no bricked drive. This can be fixed. Make sure you can boot to DOS by floppy or USB drive and have the proper files on it.

You will need L-O-Eras.exe, latest dosflash16, and your hacked firmware file. Well what you do, restart your PC with your liteon connected, but not powered on, boot to DOS. Once you get to DOS restore power to your liteon drive. Go to where your files are.

Type L-O-Eras SATAPORT <-- put in your sata port that your drive is connected too. If you don't know your sata port, you can do dosflash really fast and figure out which port has the liteon drive on it. So after you do L-O-Eras SATAPORT you should return status FF72 I believe. I haven't had to do this way for awhile so if I made a mistake on the status please PM me so I can fix this. After you do this, go type DOSFLASH, then enter the proper # for the port that has the liteon drive on it. Then type W for write. Then enter your hacked firmware file, usually lite_cfw.bin then it will erase and write the firmware to your drive. After it is done, turn the power off on your drive, then turn it back on and press eject and if it does, problem solved!
