Where does the dumped firmware go?
where does the dumped firmware go, so that i can back it up? I used a floppy, and i see the backups folder and the CFW folder. When i try to copy the OFW from backups, it gives me an error, but it lets me copy the CFW. But dont i need the OFW?
Re: Where does the dumped firmware go?
yes you do
im not sure why you cant make a copy of it.
the floppy is not locked right.
eject it and restart your computer then put it back in and try.

Re: Where does the dumped firmware go?
When i use FW Tool box to check them, i get a good key out of CFW, but in OFW its something like 00000000FFFFFFFFF.
When i try to copy OFW it starts but then gives this error: Cannot copy BENQ-OFW: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
What do u think?

Re: Where does the dumped firmware go?
there is no way i would use that firmware.

did you see firmtool run and build the hacked firmware.if so was the key good on the screen like in the video.was it a lot of different letters and numbers

Re: Where does the dumped firmware go?
If either of your firmware OFW or CFW has what looks like a bad key, trash the whole thing like cofree said and start over till it's right. The keys must be good and match, otherwise it won't work.

Re: Where does the dumped firmware go?
I am concerned about an error I received while performing a DSAM operation
Im trying to flash a Samsung MS28 version drive
I have On board Via chipset VT8237 with the latest VIA drivers
I installed Microsoft .net framework
I performed the bad flash method
During my DSAM operation with IPREP 101 v006 I get a choice of
1. IDE primary
2. XTREME primary
3. VT8237 primary
so I chose the XTREME choice #2 (because you said so in your video), is this correct?
I need to confirm if I successfully dumped (DSAM) my firmware with IPREP 101 v006
IPREP program said I successfully retrieved the firmware 100%
BUT when Firmtool V1.1 tried to execute I received
“runtime error 162 at 0000:3638 General failure writing Drive C Abort, Retry, or Fail?”
should I be concerned about this since I did get a CFW and OFW file both at 256K
In my BACKUP folder from IPREP I get a 256K SAM-CFW file and a 256K SAM-OFW file
I opened the SAM-OFW bin file with Firmware toolbox v4.6
key comes up as 8B4622B5D868B8858E8D413FFD18387C
BUT!
I opened the SAM-CFW bin file with Firmware toolbox v4.6
key comes up as FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
so what I did was edit the SAM-CFW hacked bin file with the key from the OFW file with toolbox v4.6?? (see attached screen shots)
will this work? from reading ALOT of forums on other sites this seems to be a common problem of "Firmtool"
Please advise.....thanks in advance…. supercooper

Re: Where does the dumped firmware go?
yes it looks good to me man
make sure your make a copy of that OFW and keep one off your computer so it cant get lost.
as long as you put that key in the hacked firmware then go to flashing.
man you should have started your on tread

Re: Where does the dumped firmware go?
It should work. Just make sure that your keys match in the OFW and the CFW when you finish with firmware toolbox and you should be ok to flash the cfw.

Re: Where does the dumped firmware go?
If you're not sure, write the key down and dump again
check the key against the one you've just dumped, this way you'll be %100 sure you've got the right key (that's what I did anyway).....

translate "man!......you should have started your own thread

at first I couldnt figure out what you meant with your reply? but I guess your in such a hurry this day and age...LOL
greetings cofree, really like your website, its well done and less confusing AND MORE UP TO DATE! most important..... than some other sites.
I have found TWO versions of "TEXTBOOKS TUTORIAL" of which neither one clarifies this on the front cover or the name of the file(or anywhere else), one uses "IPREP" and the other "Xtreme Boot Maker" and his video only covers using "xtreme bootmaker" where you show a video of Iprep (thanks)
which one is the best? Iprep or xtreme bootmaker? you seem to prefer IPREP??
but I had the other question to you asking should I of used DRIVE CHOICE
During my DSAM operation with IPREP 101 v006 I get a choice of
1. IDE primary
2. XTREME primary
3. VT8237 primary
so I chose the XTREME choice #2, is this correct? I would think choice 2 and 3 are the same drive??
please explain the difference if you dont mind....

Re: Where does the dumped firmware go?
well man what you did is call hijacking a tread.
samuelsteven started this tread and we were working with him.you jumped in and started asking for something in his tread.
what you should have done is start a "new topic" and that would have been your tread.
is no problem at all i just thought you should know.
and the key thing
well lets say MR.M$ is looking a the site you just give him what he would want to know.
what key is going to be modded.
i dont think you have any thing to worry about .
its just something to keep in mind
