change the drive speed from 12x to 8x on samsung iXtreme 151

Hi There

I have just flashed my samsung M28 drive to iXtreme 151 and it is running like a dream, but there is no option for any other drive speed apart from 12x which I believe is the default drive speed, but at this speed it is noisy.

So I would like to know if it is possible to change the drive speed to x8,, I have heard that this can be done using a hex editor, but I'm not sure how to go about this, is there anyone who can explain how this is done.

There used to be a multi-speed firmware but the guys who write these fw's found that there was an issue with it being more detectable by M$. So you're more than welcome to change the speed yourself just be aware that you may be at more of a risk by doing so. If you still want to know I will show you how.

I agree completely Cofree, but I figure if the guy is aching that bad for it, than either he's not on live and never will be or is just really annoyed this his 360 sounds like a jet stuck on the runway.

Yeah looks like it works fine, I have just tested it and it has changes a samsung ix151 x12 to a x8
