BenQ Hung up on reading drive

Post by Biggage »

Well, this is my first attempt at flashing. I've read all the guides and such and found your video (cofree) very usefull. Props to you!

Ok, i used iprep 8.8. I type in dben then serial, well when it tells me to press any key to continue i do and it seems to do nothing. it reads 0) pri master none, then 1) pri slave....and this is the point that it hangs.

It does nothing. Idk if my 360 needs to be on or not.

Here's some info. Don't know if it matters.

I'm running Vista, using sata ports located on my mobo, and I'm connecting my drive to my pc using a sata wire connector. My mobo is a xfx nforce 680i lt.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Your drive should be powered when you run dben so your computer can see the drive...but I don't think this is your problem...I think your problem is with on-board sata. A lot of on-board sata chipsets do not lend themselves to flashing, with that being said my latest incarnation for flashing Hit's and Liteon drives is a computer with on-board sata. I am not trying to confuse you but I have tried setting up several computers w/on board sata prior to this one without any luck. You would be better served with a old machine and a via chipset.

Well the tray half open trick worked to get it past that part in dos. Now the status is flashing between 0x41 and 0x80. Cant seem to get past this. Any ideas?

ps. ive tried to shut the console down and turn it on again as i've read that does the trick sometimes. But it didn't work.

Well I've tried the other 6 sata ports on my mobo (as someone else stated, this worked for them). I'm fed up. This is bugging me pretty bad now. I've seen two posts where people with my same mobo got this to work with a benq drive with on board sata. But, the post were a year ago and the posters are no longer active. So i can't ask for advice.

I got my drive to read 0xC8 while trying to dump. But thats as far as it gets. No matter what method I use i can get it to change to the successful code 0xC8.

I appreciate your help guys. I really just would like to do this without a controller. Especially if i buy the thing and it still doesn't work.

well the only sata it will work on would be the pri master
or the #1 sata post.that is the only sata port that iprep will index
all other sata drives have to be unhooked
when you are booted on the boot flash

Well still no avail. Now all that it'll do is sit there and flash endlessly between 0x41 and 0x80. I dont understand how i cant find any other posts on this topic. Although idk if my bios is setup right either. It may not be.

I have all drives unplugged and just the 360 plugged into where my primary sata was hooked to.

I'll be damned. I'm proud of myself. Wish i knew what i did but it worked without a controller. I just took a break for a bit and got back at it. Glad i didn't give up. I'm playing origional games on it now.

My next endeavor is to see if i can burn Dual layer DVD's and see how that process goes.

Any helpful guides on doing that?

BTW thanks for your help guys!
