Unreadable Disc

Post by sparknburn »

So, following the tutorials here, I've backed up my copy of Assasins Creed. It loads (slowly) and plays through the first couple opening movies/tuts and when the game starts I get the good ole "disc unreadable" error message,

It was ripped using a Kreon drive and XBC, then burned at 2.4x with the proper layer break settings onto an el-cheapo HP DVD+DL. That is most likely the problem, eh? I get the feeling that these drives are super-sensitve to the media used.

Any suggestions?

yep
you say slowly what speed firmware did you use.the 12x speed is the one that came in the 360 to start with.if its clicking a lot its for sure having a hard time seeing the and reading the disc
man that what i would think try a different disc.
Ive back that game up fine.
your flash is fine so dont mess with that.

Interesting - I ripped Guitar Hero 3, burnt it to the same media at 1x and it plays fine.

When I was doing old xbox1 games it was a combo of the disks and the burner. Ever since then I have been a firm believer in getting the best equipment i can afford and the best disks. Saves a lot of headache!

Sorry just saw your question. I used the 12x firmware - I think the slowness is stemming from the bargain basement disc and or the speed of the burn. GH3 works as it should.

I'm off to CompUSA to pick up some Verbatims.

Thanks again guys!

Just messing around - will the Ixtreme firmware boot games created with Xtreme 3.0? Is there something you have to do to the image? I've searched around and havent really found anything here. A buddy of mine was asking.

Ah the SS.bin looks to be a bad Kreon rip. I'm assuming we'll have to rip the game again, yes?

I also assume thats why you should use multiple tools? It passes in Schtrom and XBC (under stealth check) but when you extract the security sector and run it through Kreon Checker, it fails. I converted it into a splitvid image, will that help?

I'll rip the game myself and post back my findings. My buddy ripped it originally.

games created with Xtreme 3.0 not sure what you are ask by that

well technically you dont have to redump if you flash with the ixtreme 1.4 firmware.
i would redump.there is no way i would play that game
split vid really dont do anything right now.i build all mine spitvid just in case.

when you dump the game again
dump at 4x speed
bujrn at 2.4x speed (or slower)

When I ran Schtrom, It said the type of disc image was Xtreme 3.0 (where it usually says splitvid). I was unsure if it would load if it was a bad Kreon rip. I was reading on another forum that the Kreon checker was no longer useful since the release of Ixtreme 1.4. It doesnt pass the checker even tho it passes XBC and Schtrom.

Then again, it could be a media/burner issue. Once I get my new drive into an external USB case, I re-rip and post my findings.
