on board sata
do i have to remove the drivers to flash a light on drive with in onboard sata like i would have to with the 6421 sata card.

no man for flashing the drive with onboard don't remove any drivers, that was only for the VIA PCI card. And as for the chance of you getting to flash it might be slim, not all onboard SATA works. Its trial and error, so just try it and if your PC recognizes the drive, then you are good to go.

thank you for the reply. it reconizes benq drives so do you think it will reconizes light on and hitachis as well

yeah it will probably recognize the liteon and hitachi; samsungs were sometimes tricky but its worth a shot
