Hey guys, glad i found this site, very informative.
Anyways, i have a Asus Nforce4 motherboard(which is compatible) And iPrep states MTKflash & DosFlash compatible. I don't have a USBflash drive right now, so im using the NTFS disk & iPrep from my Sata HDD. I've done Samsungs like this without a problem. Ok so i start up NTFS disk, get to iPrep, start intro, type in dBen + Serial the whole time with the drive powered off. Once i click yes to resend command, i turned the drive on right away and this is what it said ; Status 0x73 Reading Bank 0....Control break pressed Terminate batch file yes/no/all
I thought having 0x73 is a "good" thing? Is it because i didn't allow it to toggle 0x51-0xD1 before i turned the system on? Any help would be greatly appreciated it. Thank you
*EDIT*
I just tried with a floppy & all drives disconnected & disabled. Basically the same thing happened except it just freezes at Reading Bank 0. Status is still 0x73. BTW, im using Vista Ultimate x64...So when i attempt to use DosFlash32 it tells me the drivers were blocked. I even tried changing compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2 And still no go with that.
Benq status starts at 0x73 Read Bank 0 ?

Nevermind guys, got it to work! Who says you need a specific sata card?
I flashed using the floppy, everything disconnected but the Benq. I powered on the X360 once i got to dos. Left it on and pressed Y, it stayed at 0xD1from the start...powered down, counted to 5 & powered on...BAM! Started reading. I left it on and continued...let firmtool create the hackedfw and still left it on while i did fBen. It erased and then flashed, all while leaving the system powered on. Just wanted to say thanks anyways...Im sure i'll stick around, since this site seemed to be the most informative. I really like the video tuts
P.S. I have an Asus M2N-E SLI nForce500...Maybe this will help someone.

Me too! lol I was just really determined..especially after seeing the status at 0x73. I saw that both onboard Sata/IDE based nForce4 motherboards were capable of softflashing in the .nfo, so i just kept at it. My nForce500 is still basically an nForce4. Also, not having to power on & off several times, i found to be a real plus & a lot easier IMO.cofree wrote:having the drive on is one thing.there are some people that have to do it that way.not sure way
