Need help with game backups

Post by The Wig »

I need some help. I have a benq drive and a sony dru-865S DL dvd burner. I've flashed the benq with the 1.51 FW. It flashed correctly. I'm able to play my originals with no problem. I'm trying to use XBCr to make my backups. The option to unlock isn't clickable. When i insert my orig. game in the dvd drive. it does show the 5.xx mb. Am I using the correct FW for my benq? Do i need to have 360 on with the sata attached to my comp. I've been messing with this for a week. I'm hoping will be able to use my sony burner. I really dont want to get a samsung, etc. just to back up my games. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks alot.

You cannot dump xbox games with 1.51 FW. You can dump games with the new FW when it gets released (1.6) on any drive.

You have a few options:

1) Flash your drive to 0800
- You cannot use the drive in your xbox if its running 0800 firmware, it will need to be flashed to 1.51 or something else

2) Buy another drive
- You can buy a sammy drive that you can mount in your computer and flash with kreon firmware. You can also buy another BenQ xbox drive, or a MS25/28 drive, and flash it with 0800, then you can keep that drive as a backup.

3) Wait for 1.6 to be released
- Not quite sure when it will be released but when it is you can put a game in your benQ, dump the game to your comp, then put the drive back in your xbox and play your backup.

the v1.51 firmware is just so you can play a backed up game.
if you are wanting to dump a game with your dvd drive
you have to flash in the 0800 benq firmware
that will then let it mount in your pc and xbc will index the drive.

make damn sure you dont lose you key from your orig firmware.
you have to have that key or you console will be no good
when you flash it back to v1.51 ti play your game.
if you have a question ask before you try. ;)

You definitely need to make sure you have backups of your firmware, and keys!

The key is a string inside the firmware that is unique to your xbox, without it your xbox will never play another game regardless of what drive you put in.

If your drive plays games fine currently, the key is good. If you have the original backed up on your computer, you have the key saved inside the FW. A good thing to do would be to open the firmware in jungle flasher, and save the key to file. Then make a few copies of it.
