Is that entirely true? I thought that you could reflash the original dvd software if you get RROD or something and still have warranty.

One of my friends got banned and he took his xbox to a hacker of some kind. and he changed the serial so he could get back on live

You used to be able to change to serial on the motherboard. But that was before the NXE update. That mod is called the Infectus. They've got some pretty cool stuff going on over there, but a lot of us here haven't really messed with it.
