Replace hitachi 59 with TS-H943A
Hi guys I've been reading on how to do this and I'm just getting more confused the more I read. I have been looking at the topic:
viewtopic.php?f=61&t=291&hilit=changing+a+drive
but I'm confused on what to do.
I have my hitachi key.
Can I just insert the hitachi key into ixtreme 1.4 using 360toolbox and then spoof it to a hitachi 59 and then flash it? Or do I need the orig sammy firmware for something? Also is iPrep the only way to flash a samsung drive?
The whole replacement drive thing is making things way more complicated.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I just sent you an email there freedum. Try that and see if you can get that flashed. I know I just gave some pretty basic instructions on the flashing part, but if you have any trouble or have questions, just ask.

Re: Replace hitachi 59 with TS-H943A
Thanks for the fw, but when I try and open it in iPrep it says "no valid firmware loaded". I can open the original ixtreme 1.4 samsung firmware with no problems. I made my jump drive with the ixtreme 1.4 original, can I just replace the Sam-CFW.BIN in CFW folder with the one that you sent me? Thanks,

Also I loaded up the USB HDD and was just going to see if my sata controller would work. I have the XTREME Pri Master, But I also have XTREME Pri Slave
1. XTREME Pri Master
2. XTREME Pri Slave
I guess I just use (1) but just wanted to check before I mess anything up.

It checked out fine with firmware toolbox both the orginal and the hacked. Open it up in firmware toobox 4.6 and see if it will open it, if it does, its good. and you can replace the sam-cfw.bin with it. iprep is probably throwing a fit where it's samsung firmware spoofed as hitachi fw. But if it doesn't open in firmware toolbox, then don't use it and let me know.
Also, on your ixtreme pri master and ixtreme pri slave, do you have anything else connected to the sata controller anddo you have your 360 drive connected to the first port closest to the front of your computer case? If so, you would choose istreme pri master, which is what you want to do the flashing on anyway.

Re: Replace hitachi 59 with TS-H943A
Well I successfully flashed the drive with the firmware you gave me. Now any 360 game gives me a "put this disc in an xbox 360 error". It plays dvd movies fine, just not 360 games. It does this with original and backup discs. I'm going to read around and see if I can figure this out.

Re: Replace hitachi 59 with TS-H943A
ok, that sounds like the key information is incorrect. So I can make sure everything is straight I'm going to ask a few questions.
1. You originally took a hitachi 59 out of this 360 and replaced it with a samsung?
2. The key you sent me was from the hitachi drive?
3. Does the hitachi drive still work in the 360?
If the answer to these is yes, see if you can re-dump the original firmware of the hitachi again and compare the key and let me know the results.
Make sure to compare the original firmware key with the firmware that you flashed it with in firmware toolbox and make sure that they are the same key.
It should look like this:

Check that it says:
ROM version Samsung-TSH942A-MS28 - [iXTREME1.4-12x]
ROM Size: 256
** FIRMWARE SPOOFED AS GDR-3120L-0059**

Re: Replace hitachi 59 with TS-H943A
1.) The hitachi 59 came out of this xbox
2.) Yes
3.) No, the hitachi drive is bricked because of a bad flash. It happened when I tried to upgrade the firmware to ix1.4. The previous flash (gary OPA) was good, I just wanted to upgrade. The orig key came from that backup firmware.

Did you happen to get a dump of the samsung drive prior to flashing it?

Re: Replace hitachi 59 with TS-H943A
Wait a sec, I just remembered something. I flashed my drive in between with OPA 2.3 firmware before I did the ix1.4. I noticed after this flash that my drive was now recognized as a 0046 in windows. Seems weird but everything still worked. So maybe on this flash it changed the drive key along with the mobo key to something else.
Looks like it did change it. I'm looking as I'm writing this the OPA 2.3 flash was.bin has a different key than the original key I sent you. It reports as a 0046 firmware in fwtoolbox 4.6. I'll send you the key via email.

Re: Replace hitachi 59 with TS-H943A
ok, so what I'll do is make it report as a 46 with the key.
EDIT:
It's on it's way. It may have to be spoofed back to a 59 though. Let me know if you get a error 65 or something like that after you've flashed it and tried booting with it.
