No molex in new PC, CK3 problem

Post by BigNev44 »

Whats up guys,

I bought a new PC,it has 4 sata ports,2 of them are used but i see it has no molex cable inside the machine, its a thinner cable that is connected to the hard drive and i dont know what i can put in the molex port on the CK3.

Do i actually need to connect anything to that molex port on the CK3? cause i do not see any molex cable inside my machine.

i have the CK3 and the CK Lite.

Thanks!

Hi,

I also have a New pc, and all my HD, DVD are also not powered by the molex.

However,I did find lots of cables tied up, and within there was some molex connections , they may be connected to something, obversley just ceck and see if anything that you need.

If you find that there is not any molex points on your system, if you still have your old computer use the power supply out of that

I had the same problem but it's very easy to solve (and cheap, with no modding needed) just get one of these

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Internal-Power- ... 023&sr=8-8

It plugs into your sata power supply and you connect the molex on the other side.

Thanks for the great suggestions,i will do as you all say right now.

Another friend referred me to this as well,

http://www.amazon.co.uk/SATA-to-Molex-P ... B000ZMCYQG" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Will this work as well? Cause i will get both.

Will look in my system again to see if i overlooked the cable and use my old one if possible.

The only difference is one if female (designed to plug directly into your motherboard so you'd need a molex extension lead) and one is male (designed to plug into a sata lead which would allow you to link it straight into the ck3).

I used this one in my pc http://www.amazon.co.uk/SATA-to-Molex-P ... B000ZMCYQG.

All I did was remove 1 of my dvd drives and connected the adapter to the sata powersupply that used to feed the dvd drive. I've got the connectivety kit XT adapter and that's connected to the sata/molex adapter. If you want I can upload some photos later tonight.

No, it's a Dell Inspiron (about 18 months old). I did find it strange that it did not have a molex connection. We've got a newer Dell model at work with molex and sata connections....
