SAM-OFW.bin does not exist

Post by norwegian »

Hi
I have tried a lot of things to modify my 360. Now I have purchased a via6421 chipset. And everything looks great. But when I press dsam xxxxxxx xxxxx I get an error, it cant find Backups\xxxxxxx\xxxxx\SAM-OFW.bin ABORTING
Can I fix this, or do I need to buy a new DVD drive?

Does it get that error straight away, or does it actually read the firmware and then give you that message?

I boot through a USB stick, and when I type Dsam xxxxxxx xxxxx

I use yours.
And instead of getting Drive Scaned: 1,2,3 osv..
I get the error.
I use XP.
I will try installing the chipset on another computer, then try everything one more time, then try doing it with a floppy.
Thanks for all the help, I really appriciate it :)

Well, now I have tried 3 different computers since last time, and none with luck. But the weird thing is, I get so many different errors. two common on the different comps is that when I write dSam 1234567 12345, when I am in dos with my USB, the program tells me that I have no original firmware, and the software executes the dumping and will not do anything more.
the other thing is, like I have here
error in iprep.JPG
and I get that on different computers, and in different programs, both Iprep and Extreme boot maker. Now, it has come to the point where I think nothing will work.
So, I have these questions wich I hope can lead to solutions:
1) Can I create or download new "original firmware" and place it there, so the dumping will work?
2) what is that error message.

What I did, wich might have screwed it all up (the ofw), is that, before I got mye Via chipset, I tried to do it all. Then I got the same error message as shown on the pict, and I pressed continue.. Then I got to dump the files, and flash the drive.. got to the 0 bank, 1 bank etc.. and everything was fine.. exept my 360 was still not flashed. Then I tried everything afterwards, and probably messed it all up.
Should I just buy a new DVD rom?

Thank u so much for bothering to read this, and excuse my bad english.

well if you tried to flash a drive with a bad dump and dont have the orig key that came in the drive .its bricked and is over.

the computer that your getting that error on make sure the computer has net framework 2.0 and that iprep is updated.
in iprep101 v006 up top click tools and the check for update.

after your last post
it seem like you tried to flash the drive with a bad firmware and its bricked.
sorry to say

that would be why you keep getting no good orig firmware.
because when it dumps the firmware .all it get is the bad firmware and the program know its not right.
if you dont have your key you cant put a new 360 dvd drive in it.

will your 360 do any thing now play orig games or not. :?:
i bet it will play a dvd movie. ;)

well, it costs to learn:D
Yes it plays original games, dvds, everything, it just is like nothing has happend.
The error, I do have the right framework and Iprep is updated to the newest.
What do u mean by dont have the orig key that came in the drive?
Can I buy a new ts ms25 drive from ebay, and put that in.. and will my 360 work then, and be able to modify?

Only thing I do different from your video is that I don't have a Connectivety kit
I try to do the it with the 5x speed firmware
I write Dsam and my 7digit 5digit serial
I get:
Ensure your samsung 360 drive is turned ON
Press any key to continue...

I press a key, since it is on, and hooked up with the SATA cable to the chipset

I get For the following steps, you need to:
Type the port number that matches to your SATA port
Turn OFF the 360s drive, and THEN press Enter
Wait for 10-15 seconds
Turn ON the drive, reading should start
MTKFLASH by Joseph Lin, MTK 1998 (Ver 1.83c)
Please wait.
No drive detected
ERROR: Bacups\1234567\12345\SAM-OFW.bin does not exist! Aborting (all in red)

after this, I try diffrent combos.. Turning it off and on after 10-15 seconds.
typing fsam instead. But it won't do anything for me then either.

I also have a problem with the error message I posted a screenshot of earlier. I tried installing the newest Framework, and updated Iprep, and still got that message. I get that on all the computers on one network, but on my computer, I don't get it. It is so weird!
But that is not the most important thing. Because I can just do it on mine.
But its not dead since I can play orig. 360 games, Live, dvds and stuff?
