Flasing my Benq drive with iPrep

Post by lithius »

Hey guys, I'm following the guide I downloaded from 360mods (benq iprep006 tutorial)

I have done all the preparation work and everything seems to work fine up until the part where you do the MTK vendor intro. I hit Y to make it resend the intro, then wait 2 or more seconds (i've tried this a fair bit, waiting different times, switching it on and off) but the status never changes from the 0x80 default.

I'm using my DFI ultra-d onboard SATA which I have read works for this, as it's an Nforce 4. Is it likely that I need to buy that VIA sata card?

You can try what I did. I couldn't get mine to change, so I connected the xbox and had it powered on before booting into iprep. I turned it off just before hitting "y". Turned it on again after I pressed the "y" button and it started flashing. If you can't get that to work I would recommend getting the card as Cofree suggested. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks guys, I was in the process of downloading your video guide last night but had one in a pdf so i just used it. I have yours now so I might give it a go. One weird thing that I noticed was that when I goto prepare my USB drive I get an error window with the title "Windows - Drive not Ready" Then it says Exception Processing Message c00000a3 Parameters 75b6f7c 4 75b6b7c 75b6b7c. With the options to Cancel, Try Again, or Continue. If I click try again it comes up with the same message, but if i continue it seems to load all the files on there fine, and I can use it to boot from fine...

Also I don't think I ticked "Patch MTKFlash" last night, would that make a difference?

NVIDIA nForce 4 Parallel ATA Controller would be my controller right? It just sounds like an IDE controller or something

I think the problem is with my SATA, i've read a lot of threads now about people having to use a modified MTKFLASH for the NF4 chipset, I think it's just going to be a lot easier and less frustrating for but that VIA card. Although it's $35 over here! :P
