couple question about 360 mod

i bought a 360 with 3 flashing lights, i sent it to micro$oft and they returned it working for free, although i confirmed most likely only added a heat sink rather then fixing the x-clamp(like i fixed my other 360`s x-clamp) , i wonder how long the heat sink fix will last, anywayz i`ve had another 360 from like when they kinda first started selling them and i have the a modded hitachi drive in it already ,(i dont know how to tell the firmware though i`m guessing its 1.4 or 1.5 i can only play backups and not only games with it maybe that gives a clue as to what firmware version) so i took the dvd drive out from my old 360 and tried it in the one M$ sent back and the backups dont work, it says put this disc in a 360 or sumthing like that , so i put the dvd drive back in the old one and it works fine still , the question i have is can i still get this 360 to play backups? or did M$ put so protection in it now that prevents me from playing my backups?

also i am pretty much a n00b when i comes to puting the drive in mode b and stuff as i kinda tried that in the textbook, i updated my modded 360 with the dashboard like a few months ago and i used X360.Wav3.Disabler-BANN3D360 with dynasty warriors gundam 2 and then it tried to update from the disc and although it didnt work the game still played, i have the file XBMC-9.04-BABYLON-FINAL-T3CH and i dont really have a clue whether or not i really need to install this i have read the read me file and i seems like time and more time to read stuff.lol. to update the dashboard before was so simple just put the file on a usb and install it. oh and i got file IXtreme_1.6_Firmware-REPACK-Team_HyperX , that i am sure i need to install 1.6 on my hatichi drive to play 3rd wave games with having to patch them and inside i only 3 files for
benq liteon and samsung so i guessing that i must wait for hatichi 1.6 to become available.

you might find that m$ replaced your console all together, you will have to flash your drive thats in there or spoof drive key from new to to your hit drive also ixtreme1.51 or 1.6 will play the wave3 games.

No, you can't just take a drive from one console and place it in another without first dumping the firmware and spoofing it over onto the replacement drive. To upgrade your older hitachi to enable booting wave 3 games you will first need to restore it then upgrade it (currently the latest ixtreme available for Hitachi's is 1.51 but the 1.6 is in development) with either Jungle flasher or Toolbox.

The new one you have received back from Microsoft will most probably have a different drive. which will require a different technique.

so i can see if the firmware is 1.51 by trying to play a new release i suppose. i will try raiden fighter aces , question though , will my system get jacked if i try to play a new release and the firmware is older then 1.51 will it?
