flashing hitachi 079 drive

hi guys im going to be flashing my friends hitachi 079 drive later today,information and tutorials seem a bit thin on the ground for this drive,as i have never done this drive type your advice on what program and the process would be much appreciated,thanks

if you are using jungle flasher
its not that bad to do.
just make sure you burn the .cue file
there just is not many of these drives around

hi,what version of jungle flasher would you recommend i have 1.60 ,the drive has been flashed with 1.4 before do i restore it to stock first? as i will be using my via card with jungle do i still disable the drivers for the via card and keep the port io 32 driver enabled as before with other drives and jungle?thanks

hi,quick update failed using jungle flasher,i have the unlock cd burnt,can someone give me a run down on what the steps are after i hit send mode b and when to insert the unlock cd,i have the via card drivers disabled the drive is showing in port io,but not on the drop down menu on the right my dvd rw drive is the only one showing does this matter?is this because i have the via card drivers disabled?thanks

Well you're supposed to be able to see the drive with PortIO and VIA disabled, but I could never get it to work on the 79's. I've always had to enable the drivers and use WinAPI. Once you're in Mode B and the Unlock Cd inserted and you can see the Hitachi drive listed in the drop down menu you want to press the "79 Unlock" button. JF will spin up the cd you made earlier and will effectively unlock the drive. You can try to do this before you see the drive in the menu, I've had to do it both ways before. Then do a restore to OFW, and flash as normal.
