E74: There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be repairable by doing the x-clamp replacement (see error 0102)

you can try a xclamp fix

E74 is tricky, sometimes they won't come back even after a reflow with a BGA sometimes. If you got a warrenty sticker, I would send it to Microsoft as they will most likely replace the motherboard or give you a different console. If you don't have a warranty sticker try to get one from a friend take it off with a blow dryer and razor blade, take your time get it really hot! If you got a silver sticker take extra care when removing, the pink/purple sticker is a lot easier to remove. When you send in the Xbox and get it back, take the brand new sticker they give you and give it back to the friend.(If you need to pay the ups guy they did not fix it) Ive done this tons of times and never had any problems I even sent in a modded console to see what happens and got them back fixed too. (I recommend putting your Original Firmware First, you never know what changes with the future) If for some reason you have no warranty ex: It Expired or you cut the original case ect.. the best thing is a Reflow or even better a Reball. (Reball is better you completely remove the defective lead free solder microsoft uses and replace it with new Lead Solder) This is costly around $30-$100 but might fix your problem most places do NO FIX NO CHARGE or at the most $10 if the reflow don't work.

If you don't want to pay someone try this! Beware the heatgun is a last resort after x clamp fix ect.. and the next place is trash. I have a BGA and used the heat gun before I had it and its hit or miss (be careful don't burn nothing plastic use Aluminum Foil to protect everything) Heres a Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-Eyz0sOKR4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Primary Errorcode 1 RLOD E-Code / Secondary Errorcode E74 / 1022
Known fixes:
1)If you soldered anything to the mainboard before it occured, whatever you are powering from this point is drawing too much power so get rid of it.Also get rid of everything that you can see that might bridge anything near the GPU.
2) X-Clamp replacement
3) Reflowing the solder with a BGA or heatgun(Concentrate on the GPU and (H)ANA chip
Description:
This error is caused by a cold solder joint under the GPU, (H)ANA-chip or in between (the solder cracks).Can also be a component that is missing or damaged so look for missing parts near the GPU and the (H)ANA chip.

I do a reflow service in Philadelphia and I would say 95% of my RROD repairs are older systems. I found that pre-BenQ drive was an easy way to tell not a MS repair w/a BenQ a brand new console. I been there and went through 4 brand new consoles in 2006/2007. You need a jasper look on the box for 12.1v If I remember correctly. They got aluminum heat syncs in the new ones I got 1 BenQ/Jasper 2 LiteOn/Jasper and they work great they read backups a 1000% better than Samsung/Hitachi. I Had them for a good amount of time and no problem for over a year and a half of leaving it on all day. I think the new ones are fixed in my opinion it only took 20 some million Consoles to get there though.

Microsoft is supposed to make another hardware upgrade to combine GPU/CPU they say its unbreakable. I also see PS3 failure too not on MS scale but YellowLightofDeath and 3 beeps of death happen to.
