Xecuter Blaster NE vs Xeno Top Gear

Post by he-man »

Being a bit of a gadget hoarder and like doing things as easy as possible, I'm thinking of getting either the blaster or the top gear. From what I've read the Xeno does not have a on/off switch but other souces says it does... Would you recommend one instead of the other and do they function the same?

At the moment the Blaster is out of stock but they do have the Xeno top gear. I'm wondering if I would need the connectivity kit for the Xeno or if I could use my Xecuter connectivity kit, since the two are supposedly copies.

Thanks in advance!

In my opinion there usless it would take you more time to install that then to just open it when a new Firmware is released.
You can just buy a male to female & female to female sata cables run one to the motherboard then out the side and to the drive and out the side and leave the connection under the harddrive cover so you just unplug and flash, plug in an play. Hope that helps but if you really want one I would say there there the same in my opinion I doubt anyone bought both and how many times did they use it to know what one is better. It all opinions there like asshole everyone got one and they stink.

If you can get a blaster V1, that's what I used for a while. The BlasterNE is a joke, and I've not messed with Xeno's Top Gear. The V1 has a power switch and makes it super easy to flash the drive. I have a tendency to open my system pretty regularly anyways to clean it and it was a pain to keep taking off the blaster so I removed it. But I really liked having it and with the iXtreme 1.6 firmware it would be good to have so you could use the drive in your system to do the backups as well without having to tear apart your box.

Wow I really like that last response I overlooked that the new firmware has 0800 mode. I think I will offer this to customers with out a Kreon Drive and give free updates as well as it will take seconds to flash like a package deal. I had a blaster for ever now there really is a good use for it now so I will definitely keep that in mind. If i did not have a Kreon this would be a great idea.

Great post sometimes we overlook simple things and it takes the great people on this community to bring them to our attention!

There is a power switch on the NE version as well. So hopefully that should be OK.

For this very reason I was thinking of buying it. I was looking at getting a Kreon drive but this makes more sense. They are about the same price too.

The NE's power switch doesn't cut all power to the drive which is required for most flashes.
