when you flash a drive it replaces what ever was on the drive as the drive erases its self. so what ever firmware you put on it is all you have on there

K understand what u are saying but just say your xbox goes wrong. The motherboard is changed what happens to the drive? (the repair person/ms dont changed) does the drive get a new key or does the motherboard just get a new a key???? what happens??? (there is a reason for all this by the way!!)

If the drive gets a new key then it gets a new firmware....then does any of the old firmware stay in there????

Normaly when ive sent 360s back to M$ i have had them back with diff Motherboards and 7 out of the 8 came back with liteon drives which they didnt have when they went, so i would say they just replace the 360. whats the reason have you got a problem

well yes and no. Got my xbox 360 back, and it played backups straight away. New motherboard in and it all work..np. Now my other xbox has blow up and should come back tomorrow fix form ms. I know the drive has the wrong key in it and i think they would of replaced the motherboard (it had the e74 problem). So would they have flashed the drive? when they changed the motherboard (i am hoping so)??

Myself and any of my friends who have sent consoles back to MS for repair have always got a new drive.

Even if the console did not need one.

MS just ticked the fault box on the form that they send back with the repaired console to say that they have replaced the motherboard and the drive.

I dont mind though because I think that the Liteon drives seem to run more quietly. :D
