flashing a hitachi 46 drive

hell
ive watched the tut on flashing the older hitachi drives , mi drive has never been flashed b4 so im woundering do i still have to put it in mode b b4 i go flash ixtreme ? or do i put the drive in mode b then go to flash ixtreme ?

Mode B is required everytime you do anything with the Hitachis. It's kind of like Vendor mode on the other drives it allows you to read and write to the drives firmware programmable chip. You put the drive in Mode B and then flash iXtreme. Since the drives never been flashed before there's no need to mess with anything other than the iXtreme radio button.

Yip you need it in modeB. It depends on what program you're using, if you're using jungleflasher you can do it with that but if you're using toolbox you can use the slax cd.

you should "dump drive" first
that will give you a good copy of the info on your dvd drive
incase you every need it
save that info at least one place off your pc.
then after the dump then you can flash
"FIGHTING TYRANNY in a TECHNOLOGICAL NOTTINGHAM"

done wot you all have said then went to flash ixterme came up with this
Flashing Hacked f/w to Hitachi 0046/0047 by Mode Select Method via WIN32 API
UnLocked!
Dumping Flash:Configure Upload Failed
any help would be great cheers

ps ... ive sorted it now it was me being a bit thick thx again :D
