I was attempting to flash my little brothers 360 which has a benq in it. I've done my own twice with both the sammy and hitatchi. Though, this time didn't go well at all. After trying different settings and options in both iprep and dos16, also going from connector kit to 360 power. eventually i give up. I decided i have to go ahead and purchase another sata board. no problem, right?
I took the console back to my brother and he calls me telling me the ring is flashing green and the drive won't open. He mentioned an "insert disk" message. Mind you, I was unable to read the firmware off the benq. the furthest I got was a flashing D1, or just hanging at the 1st step since my cpu couldn't recognize the drive.
Any help at this point is greatly appreciated. After work tomorrow I'm going to pick up the console again, but what should I look for/do? did I not plug something in? Is the drive shot? Do I try to connect to my pc again after buying another sata card?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Benq Bricked?
First thing I would do is take it back apart and make sure all of the cables are plugged in correctly. I believe its possible to force the one in upside down, but I'm not positive. Then I would check your usb stick or floppy depending on which you used and see if it read the fw, and if there is a chance you got the keys from it.

Re: Benq Bricked?
Thanks, but it doesn't seem like I have any of the keys on my usb drive. I'm off to work shortly, I just hope it is something like a loose cable.
It's just hard to believe it's bricked and I only tried to read the firmware. I never got into erasing or writing back to the drive.

Re: Benq Bricked?
You sure you put the read command and not the flash command? You first post said something about "the furthest I got was a flashing D1". I can't remember if that comes up on the read or not. Definitely check the cables, because doing a read should not change the ofw.

Re: Benq Bricked?
it should be fine
there is something you undid
you cant hurt the drive doing a dump
dben = read/dump
fben = flash
rben = restore
as long as all you did was dben its not bricked
if you did plug the plug in wrong that could be a big problem
just get it open and let us know what you find
you should be using iprep101 v006 and this chipset bvia6421a or L
this card works goog
