img burn finalize error

Post by Piratex »

I'm new to the site and new to burning xbox 360 game. The problem I have is when I try to burn a game on my desktop with a liteon SOHW-832s burner. I get to the finalize part and it goes to 1 or 2 percent errors and starts over. Right now I'm posting this with my phone so I don't have a lot of details. I think it said it was a bad sector or write in lead error. I will post more details when I get home, just wanted to put the topic out there. Thanks!

We need some more info. What type of disc, what speed, and are you only running the burning program?

Ok moe info.
disc is memorex, pretty sure its Ritek.
Burning it at 2-2.4x
and Img burn is the only program I have running, I even reboot before the burn.
How do I switch my I/O settings?
Already burnt 4 coasters, it might be the file. Gonna try a new file and see if that turns out any diffrent.
Thanks for the replys!

Edit* Ok did another burn of a diffrent file and with the I/O setting to elby.
Burned fine, finalized fine. When I put in my xbox it says unreadable disc.
Wipe it with a soft cloth, restart your xbox.

Edit* Did another burn of the same file, same settings. got the finalize error. will paste text.

It's failing on writing the lead-in and lead-out. This would lead me to think that the drive is having a problem. I would do one of two things. Both of which maybe difficult to do. The first thing I would try would be to take that drive out of that computer and try it in another computer. Another one that you own, or a friend that would be nice enough to let you try it. Then try the burn again and see if it fails on closing the session. If it does, you need a new burner, which is the second thing I would try in this case. If the burner works in another computer, you might have some sort of virus, malware or something to that nature thats buggering up the process. Or other software mis-configuration.

Well I was kinda thinking I was gonna have to get a new drive. So any suggestions on a good inexpensive external drive? In the price range of 30-75 bucks? I saw an external pioneer for around $190 at bestbuy. Not looking to spend that much, the reason for an external is I use my laptop alot and would like to use it on that aswell. Although my laptop has no problems burning games for some reason.

I hear Pioneer are very good for burning games, I use a lite-on burner I have about a 75% success rate. (but I think my xbox drive is weak)

Anyways, you can always buy an internal drive, then install a sata port, then plug your internal drive into it.
