MS-25 and 1.6 firmware upgrade

A friend of mine tried to upgrade his firmware to the 1.6 and now his drive is locked. He said that he went through the Iprep process and then it copied the key and erased the drive and when it went to write it hung up. I am not sure what I can do to bring it back. He said that he used the latest version of iprep for the 1.6 firm.

the only thing i can think of is doing a recover on it

Would this work for the Samsung drive? I have tried to reflash it and it just freezes on the writing. Iprep doesnt even recognize the drive.

i did not read your post right sorry

you can try a recover on a samsung dvd drive
but
do it like this.

you can do this to get it back to stock as long as its not locked up.
you should have a copy of your orig firmware that you saved,that is what you will be using to restore this dvd drive.
do this
make a iprep boot flash with RHPG Iprep v009
in the backup folder make a folder named 1234567
then in that folder make a folder named 12345
in there put the firmware you want to flash in(a copy of your orig firmware ).It needs to renamed to ' samcfw.bin "
with out the " " of course
this would be a copy of your orig firmware that you rename.
then just flash it in like normal
boot on the flash and run the flash command
fsam 1234567 12345

that will flash in a copy of your orig firmware.

Cool I will try that and let you know how it goes. Although the drive does not open or anything. So I may be screwed.
