Need help with my Hitachi 79 and JF

Post by Antonik »

I'm using the recommended VIA VT6421A Card, however I'm unable to get my drive detected by JF. I have it powered by my xbox, and i have tried it with both, PortIO and without. I really don't know what to try next. Attached is a picture of all I see in JF.

Cheers.

Your going to want to have Port IO installed.

The first image, you are in the wrong tab, you will not see your drive there. Then in the second image, you are looking int he wrong spot.

This is where you need to look:
Try all the ports, and your drive should show up on one of them...

I couldn't find the drive using my onboard sata, thats why I tried a Via card instead.

When I switch between the ports, how long do I wait, I switched between them really quickly, and did not see the drive either.

I was having the same problem, the way i solved it was using slax to put the drive in vendor mode, once i did it popped up in JF. Unsure if it will work for you but it was the way I got around to see the drive.

I tried the slax CD with no luck, then I stumbled upon Podger's tutorial on a different website, and the tutorial recommended trying all SATA ports. I try the SATA port that my dvd drive was in, and behold JF recognized the Hitachi and I was finally able to flash the drive.

Thanks for all your replies.
