hitachi v47 iextreme 1.51 help
Okay so I flashed my hitachi drive a while back with iextreme 1.4 and now am trying up update the f/w to 1.51. I've read the tutorials and watched a couple videos and just have a few quick questions. I'm using jungleflasher 1.51 to flash the drive on non-via chipset without a connectivity kit. So what exactly is the process when sending the mode-b command? do I simply connect everything, hit send mode-b, and then power up the drive when I see the dots? Before I used the slax-cd to put the drive in mode-b, but I'm assuming I don't need to do that anymore, correct? I'm also assuming that after I get the drive in mode-b, I should be using the winAPI mode since this is a non-via chipset (it's my buddies computer and he has an nforce chipset), is that also correct? Once I get the drive in mode-b correctly I'm confident I can restore the original f/w and then flash with iextreme 1.51 without a problem, just need those questions cleared up because most of the tutorials and videos are using a connectivity kit. Thanks for your help.

Well supposedly with the new JF you don't need to power cycle the drive for mode-b to go into effect. But I've found that it definitely helps. Make sure that JF recognizes the drive then press mode-b, you'll get a message telling you to eject the drive, then I eject the tray, turn off the drive and press mode b, wait for the dots usually about 1 - 2 seconds then power on the drive. Tray should close and you should now be in Mode B, to confirm just press the eject button if nothing happens on the first press but the tray ejects on the second press then you are officially in mode b. Now select flash iXtreme and be sure to place the iXtreme 1.51 firmware in the firmware folder of JF and press the "Flash IXtreme" button. If all goes well you'll be on your way to playing backups in no time.

Thanks for the info, I found another tutorial detailing flashing the drive using firmware toolbox. I'm gonna give that method a try first as it is very similar to how I flashed the drive originally. If I can't get that to work then I will follow what you said. Thanks for the reply and I'll let you know how it goes.
