Do you need a Slax disc to flash a Hitachi drive?

i saw a video up on this site that showed how to flash a Hitachi drive(78) with just jungle flasher (no slax disc). Can i follow the same method for older drives and the 79 version drives? or is it that i can only flash a 79 drive with a slax disc and not just jungle flasher? thank you very much for taking the time to listen to my nood questions ladies and gents

slax2.1 only gets the hitachis into modeB.nowadays jf will do this as it has a hitachi tab

For the 79 you mentioned jungleflasher uses a "79 unlock cd" to put it into unlock mode. The different version Hitachi drives can sometimes be a bit temperamental on which transfer method you select.

If you can get mode b to work within JF, then stick with that. If not you'll have to go with slax.

I personally use JF to get the drive in mode b, then have to use FWT to flash (jungle flasher doesn't like me )

oh so you mean that i can just do it all with in jungle flasher?! sweeeet bc i have never tried to flash one and didnt want to brick it lol. So far so good JF likes me with all other drives! so all i need to do is get it in b mode through JF and it should do the rest then sweet! thank you guys!

make sure you can get a good dump before you try the flash (as with any other drive), and you should be good to go.

As I say, Jf doesn't like Hits on my PC for some reason, so I have to flash them in FWTB. But if you can do it all from one program, that's recommended

And you may even need to use the Mode B button on your CK3 assuming you have one. I worked for an hour the other day on a 59 that refused to go into mode b until I pressed the mode b button. Then it was smooth sailing from there.

Yeah, that works up to 78. Anything after that relies on software...
