Just today got the open tray message

Hi peeps,

I flashed my 360 to 1.6 a month or so back and all been good, I even got a 120HD to save the drive life by installing games. Its been working really well without any errors or unplayable disc messages ever, Today I switsh it on to play Fight Night round 4 and my electric went off mid game, I immediatly switched the lecky back on and now my 360 wont read the discs anymore at all, Wont even read originals. I aint getting any error messages its just saying " Open Tray " and the fans arnt kicking in either, They try to but cut out every single time. Ive had it opened giving it a good clean and no joy, I even reflashed it but still no joy, Im really thinking now my drive is done and the laser has gone maybee, I aint a clue about all this multimeter stuff and the like so im either gonna get a pre owned one on Monday and hope its a Benq, if not ill take it back and say theres a prob with it so they exchange and hope thats one, 2 chances are always better than one eh guys ? LoL

The other thing Ive been looking on Ebay for some drives, Ive seen some for 15 quid but from Hong Kong, Benq ones brand new, He has good reviews so sounds good but then I see you carnt just plug it straight in and away.


Can anyone point me in the right directio of whats best to do, I need it running as soon as coz I havnt got a bit of life and need my console, Like whats my best options ?

id like to be able to help ya man but the last open tray i got was a few yrs ago and i did wot your thinking of doing at (sounds like ourloss)(with a G)
but sudden loss of power aint good for any electricals

Well my game was running from the HD when the lecky went off, but still Id been playing virtua tennis, Fight night round 4 all well and then my lecky went off suddenly and when I loaded back up I kept getting this, Ive since tryed the POT calibration and did actually get it where it was reading the disc sort of, it was saying play game and the odd time would load up, Was really struggling to read, So I kept messing with the POT screw without a mulimeter, I was desperate honestly. Anyway last night the friggin white square what the POT was attatched too cracked and then eventually came off and the screw dropped with it, I thought the screw was actually screwed into the board. Oh well Ive just today pursuaded my lass to let me get a new one, I immediatly was hoping and checked the drive that it was a BENQ, I thought it was at first but now I found out they look the same as Lite On so I checked the wires before I broke the seal and they yellow so its a Lite On I think.

Im just curious as what you guys think I should do, Ive checked EBAY for a new BENQ and ive seen them from Hong Kong foor about 16 quid including the P+P so thats good aint it ? When and if I get this drive Im now aware it needs to match the console so do I just swap the boards over and thats it ? Ive watched vids how to do this so should be fine, Once Ive swapped the boards in the drives over will it then be flashed just how it was before ?

I would really like some help on this but seems the website is a ghost town coz usually people are straight on helping you here, Thats why ive always said this is the best site.
