Flashing a Hit 47DJ with Ck3 and FWTB

Post by Cjc1706 »

Hey guys,

Just want to run something past you to make sure I have got it right.
I tried to flash a Hitachi 47DJ drive using the CK3 and Firmware Toolbox. I tried this a couple of days ago and didnt really get anywhere. What I did was:

Hook the drive up to the CK3 for power (using the green cable)
Hook the drive up to my PC using the VIA SATA card I have installed.
Check the drive can be seen in Windows explorer. It was listed in 'My Computer as a drive' (if it can, this means its in modeB right?)
Open up FWTB and go to Tools > Direct Drive Dump, make sure the drive is selected in the drop down box then RAW dump FW as...

Now when I clicked on this, it gave me an error message to insert a original DVD or Game and wait 20 seconds..... I did that, tried again, but it just gave me the same error message.

It was at this point that I gave up and put my 360 back together.

Now as far as im aware, the drive must have been in modeB for it to be listed in windows and in the drop down list of FWTB.

So does anyone have a guide or any helpful words for me flashing my drive in FWTB ? I dont really want to use JF, as I dont really trust it.

Cheers

Try using classic instead of raw dump (raw tends to be used for the 78/79's). Hitachi's can be problematic at the best of times.

You can either use the slax disc or the modeB button on your ck3 (when it's red it indicates modeB) and yip you're doing it right.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the help. He brought it back round today and I flashed it easily. One problem was that it wasnt reading the backups after but it was reading originals okay. I checked the flash and it was successful, so I tried to POT tweak it and that really didnt help ..... i replaced the laser and all worked fine after that ....

Cheers for the help
