Wanting to do my first dvd drive flash.

Post by Faithy »

Currently got a xbox arcade with a lite on drive that i want to flash, i watched Cofree's youtube vids and from what i understand i need a

CK 3 pro
The tool to read the key
Is that all i need to purchase?
Anyone know a decent UK retailer for these products?

Anyway im wondering how you power the CK3 im guessing its just by taking a Molex plug out a Dvd drive in the PC and plugging the CK3 into that?

I have an xbox elite console which i dont use anymore because it displays graphical artifacts which has a BenQ drive i believe. So i will probably try flashing that drive first to get to grips with what i need to do with the whole process

You dont need ck3 and probe to flash benq drives. Only lite-on requires that

It's recommended that you have one for flashing any drive, even if it's just to power it. There are some people that believe that the console makes a log when it boots without the sata cable plugged in.

Plus it's far easier, if your PC is like mine, it's in a tight space and impossible to get the xbox and power brick close enough to the pc to plug it in to SATA. You don't have to earth anything either...

Also your 360 does not carry an earth, the best way to do it is bridge the case of your 360 and you pc together.

Far much easier if you use a ck3.

this is all the kit you would need http://www.ck3.co.uk/xecuter-ck3-super- ... offer.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If your computer has onboard sata, you can try and see if it will work. Some are compatible, while others just won't work at all. Best possible scenario, order the CK3 and via card, especially if your thinking about flashing others drives. Once you get the via card installed, then disable the driver for it and install portio 32. Good to go for all drives except the latest lite-on and sometimes hitachi's can be a pain with this type of setup. But if you have on board and it won't work with benq's, lites and sammies, it should work fine for hitachi's. Onboard seems to work best with hitachi's for some reason.
