I have a virgin MS28 drive that I was just attempting to flash using Iprep. When I got to the dumping of the firmware I got the error "no valid key found."
This drive hasn't been flashed to this point so I dont see how the firmware or drive key could have already been dumped. I checked the backup files and the drive key reads all 7's.
Is there anything that I can do at this point? Please help.
The box was able to play originals prior to trying to read/dump the firmware so I'm not sure what went wrong.
Thx

Re: Help with MS28
Put it back into the 360 rezzy, if it doesn't play originals then it's game over for that console i'm afraid.

Re: Help with MS28
Any idea how this could happen though? Just maybe some thoughts in case I try again with another box. I would hate to lose another.
The only thing I could think is that I was trying to use Jungle Flasher prior to Iprep and it froze a couple of times while reading the banks. Would this cause the firmware to corrupt or maybe be dumped? I had to power off my CPU in the process of it reading the banks when it froze.
Just looking for advice for the next one now I guess.
Thanks

Re: Help with MS28
That could likely be it, freezing. Try the work around, that should fix it.
Does the drive not read originals etc now? In theory it should, as long as you did not erase or write. Sounds like you just dumped the drive (when you dump, you are copying, not actually transferring the data from the drive to your comp. The FW stays on the drive)

What's the work around? Box does not read originals so I just assume its done. I was able to read the FW in JF recently and it pulled the key as all F's as well. I think its bricked... Must have been the freeze, but just weird since all i was doing was reading the drive. I never attempted to erase the fw or re-write it onto the drive. Very weird.

Re: Help with MS28
TBH, Ive never heard of anything like this, I really have no idea.
The work around involves disabling the via card driver, and then flashing. With the card enabled when you get the drive into vendor mode, your comp tries to poll the drive for info, and ends up freezing. With the driver enabled, your computer is basically oblivious to the drive being connected, and flashed.

Sounds good, worth a try at this point since the box might be dead anyways
Re: Help with MS28
I think I may have found my dvd key via Hex Editor. Can someone please help me with loading the key into a firmware and then loading it onto the box?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Help with MS28
if you can email me your OFW and your proper key, I can fix you a proper CFW to flash into it.
