Well if you have a samsung drive now, all you will need to do is dump the drive and reflash it with the samsung 1.6FW

SImply dump the drive check that it has a good key and flash that withthe 1.6 samsung FW

Well if you have a samsung drive now, all you will need to do is dump the drive and reflash it with the samsung 1.6FW

sorry to intervene but this is wrong. the way you go about this is the following:

first you'll need to make sure you get your key from the drive (hitachi) however what version is it? lower than 59 or higher than 59? If 59 & below I can help as I too was in the same situation however you might get confused with the various steps it takes but i"ll give a general overview of what you need to do. additionally if i can find the posts i did to help another individual out, I'll just cut & paste them here. well for starters, find out what version your hitachi drive is. If i'm right you probably bought a ms28 via feebay. the tutorials you're going to need are the following:

1)sadalius spoofing samsung into a hitachi console 2)cofree's hit drive flash tutorial 3)a written tutorial on how to update the hitachi drives to 1.51 (this was posted by someone else) 4)jungleflasher 1.62 5)tutorial on the workaround on disabling the via6421 drivers (easy to find) 6) iprep 1.9 w/the xml update (optional as you can use jungleflasher but this is just how i do it) 7) the original drivers for your via 6421 pci card (hopefully you have one of these otherwise you will have to use your onboard sata ports) 8) a ck3 kit (much easier) 9) you are going to hear various people state that you will need the activate.iso disk as well ( you get this via jungleflasher) however there is a workaround for that as well but you'll need to read up on the jungleflasher tutorial starting on page 19. Don't get me wrong though, i would recommend you burn the image if you got a disk regardless as it's important. Lastly, i think that's but if i'm forgetting I'll post up.

You have a LOT of homework to do buddy but I'm sure you'll be alright, just write us here & we'll try to help you out as much as possible. the people here have helped me out a lot & having a background in computers made it much more simpler as the methods i used were different but they worked. good times. Note: the majority of the stuff i mentioned you Will find here in the forums. to make it a bit easier for you, you can do a search for my posts & spoofing and u should be able to find the the firmware toolbox written tutorial that someone else posted as it's easy to follow. good luck :|

ok guys

lets look at this thing.
bballuk wrote:i spoofed a old Hitachi drive to in a Samsung
That statement says it all.
originally it was a console that had a samsung drive but now it has a hit dvd drive.

when you spoof a firmware
you in no way change the dvd drive or the "work firmware" thats in the drive.
what a spoof does is add a small amount of code that tricks the console into thinking it has its original dvd drive in it.

so if you are going to update that firmware you have to use the firmware that works with the "hardware"
so you will make a new hit firmware and redoe the spoof and flash it in the hit dvd drive.

but being that there is no new v16 firmware for the hit dvd drive this whole thread is
just talking to talk.

This is wrong, you cannot flash the samsung firmware to a hitachi drive
(Commando you must have read the question wrong :P)

Anyways, to update your drive is simple. As cofree said, a spoofed drive is nothing special... It is just firmware with a couple of strings changed in it...

Here is how to update in jungle flasher...

Dump your Hitachi drive.
Locate your Hitachi OFW (Hopefully you still have it, if not download one)
Flash your Hitachi back to stock, by flashing the OFW
Download ixtreme 1.51 hitachi from xbins
Load the firmware you dumped from the hitachi drive as source
Load ixtreme 1.51 as target
Click spoof source to target
Proceed with flashing your hitachi.
(Flashing a hitachi is the same everytime since you need to restore to stock first)

A spoofed firmware contains a couple strings identifying it as another type of firmware... So if you have a hitachi drive in a samsung console, there will be a few strings that instead of saying "Hitachi" and your drive type they will be changed to "Samsung" and "ms28" or "ms25"

When you dump the firmware, jungle flasher thinks its a samsung firmware, so when you spoof source to target, you copied the strings into the new 1.51 firmware, so now your 1.51 appears to be the EXACT same as the firmware that was on the drive. It is basically the exact same aside from the fact that 1.51 has a minor tweak allowing you to play wave 3 games.

Hope this helps ;)
