Sorry dude, but hitachi's are probably the worst drives to flash... They offer no forgiveness. Im pretty certain your drive is bricked.
Hopefully you dumped it first?
(Also, it more then likely froze in JF due to your via drivers... Do you have any installed, and are they enabled?)

Thats weird, good thing you got the key though, you can see about buying a new drive or see if you can buy a hitachi off ebay that has trouble reading games. Then just take the board out, and swap them.

There you go, watch that video, before you take off the laser ribbon cable, you should take off the worm motor's cable. Its will give you more room to shift the board so you can remove the glued part of the laser's cable.
Be gentle while applying force to remove the glued part of the cable.
Once you removed the board, installing it, is the exact opposite of what you did, and its quite easy. Then flashing is the same as flashing a brand hitachi. No need to dump it... Just mode b then flash.

I don't want to hi-jack, but HaGGardSmurf, will this work for a Hitachi 0078FK drive that I tried to spoof but bricked?

Yes. When you brick a drive, you have erased the flash chip, if you replace it, you can reflash it.
Its usually easier to just buy another drive rather than track down a new PCB and swap it. (And I guess if your drive isnt the best to start with its better to just buy a new drive.)

OK so I found this one:

Will it work for the 78fk?
