hey guts i got my new samsung drive 2day but it was having a lot of trouble reading backups. i decided to swap the lasers. ( just sliding them of the metal runners) and replaced it with a new 1. after i did that it wont read anything. the drive spins and stop and spin and stops and so on. i can see the laser beam aslso. it sounds like its making a clicking sound also. anyway i put the original laser back in the drive and it wont read anything at all now. just does the same as the previous laser???!!!!??? could i have knocked the alignment off of something??? and how can i fix thisproblem??
if any1 out there can help me it would be great.
thanks

Re: Samsung drive laser problem
Is this the wider cable (that attaches the laser)?
This could be the problem.

never mind guys my console has just got the red ring of death. bad night for me!!!!! lol

Re: Samsung drive laser problem
Wow that is a bad night. I had a samsung that would read originals fine, but had a hard time reading back ups. All I had to do was clean the lens with a cloth and it was good to go.

Is your xbox more than 3 years old? If not Microsoft should fix the red rings.
