Flashing From 1.6 to 0800

Hi everyone. I have a spare Liteon (the old version) flashed with latest ix 1.6. I don't have the original key, but that i'd like to flash the drive with the 0800 fw. Do i need to flash it back to the original key first, or can i just flash it from 1.6 to 0800 as if the drive never been flased before?

It has the key in the firmware thats on the drive. What you need to do is to dump the drive and get the dummy, inquiry, identify and key.bin files. You don't have to have these files just for 0800, but if you ever wanted to use this drive in the console it came from, you will need them so you can create the hacked firmware once again. Once you have those, then you can flash in the 0800 firmware.

Ixtreme 1.6 has 0800 in it. All you need to do is burn the activate.iso to a disk, and put the disk in the drive. That will put it into 0800 mode, then eject the disk, and put in your game.

For future info, you dont need to restore the lite-on in order to flash it. Power it on, eject tray, cut power, push it half in, go to the mtk tab, click dummy from ixtreme, save your bin's, load your FW, spoof, erase, then write.

woow! Crap!...I didn't know the 1.6 had the 0800 built in already. Thank you guys for the heads up!. I'll give it go. I just bought a brand new game for my nephews, and I'm afraid the monsters will play freezby with it. Thanx again!

I would have explained about the built in 0800, but it sounded like you were wanting a more permanent arrangement with your spare lite-on. Either way will work fine though.

So, is it possible to backup a game with the 0800 method and play it afterwards without flashing it again?

well, no not without flashing it back. The 0800 firmware is only configured to allow the drive to work with a PC like a kreon drive. The ixtreme 1.6 firmware has the 0800 firmware built in to it though so you really wouldn't need to flash the drive with just the 0800 only firmware unless you wanted to mount it in the PC more permanently.

To be honest mate if i were you i would just get a kreon drive off of ebay and bung it in your pc to rip the games otherwise unless you have blaster fitted you'll be forever taking your box apart just to rip a game!

Either a blaster, or just leave your xbox open. I know lots of people who use their xbox without a case on it so it doesn't heat up as much, or as fast.

A blaster isnt very hard to make, its a couple sata cables, and 2 cuts of your case.
