Hitachi 59 Comes and goes
Hitachi 59 Comes and goes
A bit of weird situation is this. I have my hit 59 hooked up the onboard via set it to mode b with slax.
First problem i found xp didn't see the hit. I've turned off the pc, unplugged the sata cable.
Turned the pc back on (hit still in mode b) in win xp I plugged the sata back in... Nothing happend at first, but...
I searched for new hardware in computer management and there was the hit hdl something. Had to restart and it was gone.
I repeated this step again and there he was in computer management when i checked for new hardware. As soon as i saw him he was gone again while refreshing the page about 2 times. What can this problem be?

Re: Hitachi 59 Comes and goes
Have you tried looking for the drive in jungleflasher??
Sometimes windows wont recognise the drive but jf will
Also
Have you used that onboard sata before??

Re: Hitachi 59 Comes and goes
I've tried JF but it only finds my standard dvd-rom and cd-rom. I never used the onboard to flash a drive, only for my HD.
The weird thing is, that the hit showed up and then disappeared. I did not try to switch between the 2 sata ports yet.
To get in mode b with slax was a piece of cake.

Re: Hitachi 59 Comes and goes
Hmm i think its compatible. Have u selected every single I/0 port in jungle flasher??
Also check the box with include non-IDE ports on the dvdkey 32 tab
Also slax isnt needed to put the drive in mode b as jungleflasher can do that for you.
Be careful with trying to flash the hitatchi drives mate as if u follow the steps incorrectly u mite brick your drive
Double check everything
Anyway give that a try and post back mate

Re: Hitachi 59 Comes and goes
Yep, i've heard that is is compatible. I tried the I/O ports and at one port my screen went grey. I can try to check the non IDE box. I am using jf 1.51 now or do i need the newest?

Re: Hitachi 59 Comes and goes
Hi mate, did a quick edit of your post...
Did you try putting the drive back in the console after the first flash? Looking at your log, it looks likes you restored without your key, but that's not a big problem... The most important thing is that you have a good key in your OFW. At the very least with this you can spoof another drive in if something goes wrong.
The older hits are a pain in the arse, no matter what sata/pc I've used, I seem to run into problems with them. Have you tried Firmware Toolbox out? The one thing I would say is don't flash until you're sure you have the right key, and that the drive is recognised properly by windows. If something goes wrong with a hit, and the firmware ends up corrupt/incomplete, then the drive is shagged, finito, kaputsky etc....

And if at first you don't succeed..? Order the damn card!

Re: Hitachi 59 Comes and goes
Hi there,
Thanks for the edit!
No i didn't try putting it back in the console, assuming the first flash wasn't ok.
I've managed to restore the OFW yesterday. And ofcourse tried to flash it again with no luck.
I haven't tried FWT yet. But how do I know if i have the right key? edit: when dumping the drive I saved the key to a folder in my documents. So it was not in the JF fw folder because I did this Hitachi Dump file saved to E:\Documents and Settings\xxx xxx\Mijn documenten\Hitachi original firmware\Hit-OFW2.bin

Re: Hitachi 59 Comes and goes
Ok. I've tried firmware toolbox a few minutes ago and it came up with the error that it can't read the drive.
i;ve opened the hit-ofw with firmware toolbox to see if there was a key because i wasn't sure if the restore of
yesterday was a good one. Is that the key we''re looking for? It opened and looked ok with me. Same key as what you;ve edited earlier today.
But what's next after having this out of the way...
