i have a nforce 650i and im connecting the xbox dvd drive internally along with my other harddrives. The drive is in mode b using slax. Re: Hitachi 78k help plz
Ok what versoin of jungleflasher are you using? Reason I ask is because the newer jf's have a mode b button. Removes a lot of headache with slax. Second, has your box ever been flashed before? Because it needs to be in it's original state when you do the flash. Finally, You might want to invest in a via6421 chipset($15.00 at the most) from sites that are listed here in the forums. Sadalius and cofree have great tutorials on the workaround and jungleflasher. Hope this helped. Hours and hours of research are well worth the ten minutes of success you will have

Life is full of influences, It's your application that sets you apart.
Re: Hitachi 78k help plz
One thing I would say when flashing with Nforce (or any non-VIA) sata, is that it can help if you set your ports to work in Legacy mode. This is normally just SATA on nforce boards (you'll get three options : SATA, RAID or AHCI).
I don't think you don't need to put a disc in with JF, but you definitely do with Toolbox. Make sure you let the disc spin up before you try dumping/flashing, give it around 20 seconds to be sure...
