Bricked liteon Advice Please

Hi all

I tried to flash my sons liteon drive (lucky enough I have the keys so he has a hitachi drive now)

But the liteon messed up on the erase part of jungle flasher. Now it freezes my pc when i turn it on

Is it knacked beyond repair?

Are you trying to flash it on a VIA card?? If so, did you remove the VIA drivers and just use port IO?

Sounds to me like you're having problems with the VIA card polling the drive. This is a problem with the drivers, and requires you to remove (or rename) them. It might also be worth trying the drive with Dosflash (32 for windows or 16 for DOS).

Many people have had this problem with lite ons, but most can be recovered. It might be worth trying on a different PC/sata chipset.

Well if your comp froze at the erase stage, lilrevuk is right, you have a via problem.

Basically what happened is you erased the drive, and after it was erased your computer thinks a new drive is hooked up, so it tries to poll the drive for information, since the drive has none, it doesnt respond to the request, causing your comp to freeze.

Its a common problem, and usually happenes if you have your via drivers installed & enabled. Since its a common problem, there is a common solution:
