via vt6412a serial ata card

Post by bsammy »

ok guys, let me preface this, im a noob. i have a lite on v 74. that was flashed for me. since then,my connect has moved to the west coast, i live in new england, so im left to try this on my own. ive purchased ck3 pro w/ probe, vt6412a card, and trying w/ iprep 10.7. everything goes good till iput the probe @ the r707. when i hit enter it says ERROR cant find fware, etc. "check connections and try again" oh yea im using the 9 pin r232 cord also w/ conn kit. but i wonder if ive installed the vt6421a card correctly. it didnt come w/ install mannual, i thought it was "plug and play" . when i open iprep its there, so im confused; any help would be greatly appreciated.[img]

No mate you've plugged the motherboard sata lead into the primary port on the pci card. The port you've plugged the sata lead into the card is the port to connect straight to the liteon (disconnect the lead going to your onboard sata and plug that one into the liteon and just take the other lead attached to the card out as you won't need it). Do not connect the onboard sata to the card at all.

When you say you've purchased the ck3 pro and probe did you also buy a r232 cable at the same time because iprep will not work with usb? If you didn't you'll have to get a male to female serial cable like this and connect it to your pc's comport and ck3:

Your other option is to use jungleflasher which is caable of using the usb connection.

you will need to install the correct drivers for this card. the reason its not working properly is because they are not installed

1) Install the drivers for the card
2) make sure you have the correct com port selected in iprep ie com 1 or com 2.

3) connect the sata cable to where the pic says internal sata port. this is normaly the primary port

4) the serial goes into the ck3 and to the back off the computer.
5) Molex power lead from the computer to the ck3
6) and obvioulsy the sata to the drive and the power cable from ck3 to drive

About half way down this page : http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; are drivers which are also compatible with vista. Download them and try again.
