Tools needed for Liteon drives

Well i've been flashing all my friends drives and have finally (after 7 drives) ran into a Liteon...
I'm just wondering what type of tools im going to need for flashing a Liteon (both tools for each model)

I typically hook the drive up to my PC by onboard sata and have had no problem so far. Also I use my Xbox 360 to ower the drive.
Will I be able to do this technique with the FW83 Liteon? or do I need some more tools that I need to buy?
I read in the tutorial on the FW83 flashing that I will need to power off the drive very quickly and turn it back on quickly. Do I need another tool for that?

And for last the FW74, I know I need a probe but what else do I need to buy?

I don't want to be spending money on some giant kit, I just want the bare mimimum so I can flash the drive.

For the 7 series lite-on you need a connectivity kit and a probe. For the 8 series, you dont need either, but a connectivity kit will help quite a bit. If your doing peoples drives its alot better to invest in a connectivity kit, as you dont need to pull out your power brick, the 360, and ground it to your computer case...

Why would I need a connectivity kit for the 7 series and not the 8 series? Probably a stupid question lol. Just wondering.

The 7 series drives need a probe to enable you to get the key, that needs to be connect to a CK3 the 8 series do not use a probe. i realy would advise you to get a ck3 thats all you will need

with that kit you will be able to flash all drives

Is there anything cheaper than that? I don't need everything included in the kit. I can already flash every drive other than Liteon's. Do you have a link for the bare mimimum things I need?

Thats QUITE cheap. I payed $110.00 which is like £70.00 and I just got the probe and ck3.

If you want to do a lite-on 7 series you will need a ck3 and probe. You are paying for both those items, and you get the unlock kit, and the molex connector free.

Thats the lite version of the CK3, you can go that route, and buy the CK3 lite + probe and save £12.00

Its whatever you want to do, but bottom line you will need some kind of CK3 and a probe to flash a liteon 7 series, and who knows you may need it for the later drives... Some people have gone as far as to build their own CK3 and Probe.

I was able to get a probe off ebay for $15. It looks pretty durable. It looks as if the guy upped the price a little.
The i received is all black. I used my xbox as a power source.

Do yourself a favour and get the connectivity kit/probe
It will save u allot of hassle
And like haggard said, if your doing other peoples drives its best that u do it the right way!!!

Ive had a ck3 lite and to be honest they are not the best, they are great for doing the benq, samsung and hitachi drives but for the lite ons they aint, the serial cable doesnt last that long before the wires split so you best off buying a ck3 pro mate. there a bundle on ck3 for the ck3pro and probe on ck3.co.uk, heres the link:

Yep ck3 pro is what ive got
never had any problems with it as yet
