Nforce 4 chipset Issue with Iprep ** Resolved **

Post by galferd »

ok i was able to figure out a couple things, posting this to help anyone else with a nforce chipset trying to flash from Iprep or dosflash 16.

to make everything easy on yourself what you need to do is edit the BEN batch file to use the corret switches for dosflash.

what I found is with the default settings IPREP can only READ your flash successfully (thank god, if i had gotten a bad flash
I would have been sitting on a brick right now) but it cannot ERASE or WRITE properly. I figured out the issues with writing after i flashed the first time after I successfully Erased my flash with command prompts using dosflash I got a red led on the XBOX so I figured it was the command switches again.

So i reflashed with back to ORG.BIN then tested to make sure original flash was good and then Erasased again and flashed the CFW.BIN using the new settings I came up with. Here are the changes I made to the BEN file:

the line for erasing your firmware :
DOSFLASH E %SATA% 1 A0 1 1 4 d8 0 changed to

DOSFLASH E %SATA% 1 A0 1 0 4 C7 0

then i changed the line that writes your new firmware
DOSFLASH W %SATA% 1 A0 1 1 4 BACKUPS\%1\%2\BENCFW.BIN 0 changed to

DOSFLASH W %SATA% 1 A0 1 0 1 4 BACKUPS\%1\%2\BENCFW.BIN 0

seems pretty easy to the experts but it had me up till 4 am today pulling my hair out
IPREP FLASHEND

SO the pack of 20 verbatins i bought are basically uselss since I dont have any more games to backup and all the backups i created using the supposedly crappy TDK disks all work fine

thanks alot for the firmware hackers and the tools its ixtreme 1.6 is fantastic !

Woooh nicely done. I'm too bloody lazy so i'd have either used jungle or ordered a 6421 card but respect due my man.
